I’m of the opinion that modern parents hate their children and can’t wait to get rid of them, no matter who or what takes care of them: smartphones or laptops, day care from 2 months of age, then pre-pre-pre kindergarten, then summer camps, then out of the house right after high school! When do modern parents play with their kids? Talk to them? Cook with them? Eat with them? No wonder kids are depressed, they sense this lack of engagement by their parents.

There is a really crazy paper where they did the "mirror dot" test for self recognition on ants. BUT. It's in the "Journal of Science" which isn't "Science" ... and it's odd to have an insect paper not in an insect journal.

I decided to find out if any progress had been made on the science behind why some ants are attracted to electrical fields. After filtering out exterminators (it's so demoralizing to search for information on creatures you love and find nothing but people who know nothing about them boasting about how they will kill them all) I found what looked like a blog. But, who the heck is "James Brown"? Never heard of the dude. Maybe he could be my new friend if he likes ants enough to blog about them!

I use their website almost daily.
Every time I use my phone to ID a plant, I am directed to Wikipedia to confirm the information. I adore Wikipedia and I feel that I can help protect it with my small contribution. I use iNaturalist to triple confirm or when Wikipedia and my phone ID function aren’t helpful, but they usually help.

There wouldn’t be hostages if there had been justice, if there hadn’t been illegal occupation. If the world had listened to the early Palestinians screaming (now we know into a void) the horrors that they had been subjected to by the Zionists and the West. I’m not sure how anybody in their right mind and with a grain of morality would choose “Israel” to build their lives (dancing on the bodies of native peoples).

Ancient history is great, but to the problem Palestinians are facing today it has little relevance. Who lived in Palestine 14,,000 years ago is important to know but more important is where their descendants went. The Palestinians that inhabit those lands today and are being murdered have (or had) an uninterrupted connection to the land that makes them indigenous to it.

#UNRWA / Philippe Lazzarini interview with Haaretz: “Israel did not provide us with evidence for suspicions against employees, we expect full cooperation”

Lazzarini says #Israel has not provided substantive evidence to back its accusations against UNRWA employees and dismissal of the organization's neutrality. He calls for full cooperation from Israel in investigating the claims.

Despite Israel not providing full intelligence report; Lazzarini says he fired 10 of them immediately based only on a verbal briefing from Israel's Foreign Ministry.

Israel did not raise any issues with the list of all UNRWA employees that is shared annually. The 12 suspected employees were included on the latest list from May 2023.

Lazzarini questions the claims that 10% of UNRWA Gaza staff are linked to Hamas, saying they have not received this information and don't know the source.

He argues UNRWA has limited ability to detect Hamas tunnels under its buildings in Gaza, as it lacks military expertise and mandate.

He denies claims of widespread diversion of UNRWA aid to Hamas, saying aid is distributed directly to families without intermediaries. He acknowledges he can't fully rule out some aid being taken and resold on black market.

    Are you saying that Jews that lived in Palestine were no Palestinian? I didn’t say “Muslims” were minding their owns business…. I said “Palestinians”, that includes everybody, even Christians. It just so happens that the Jews were spared the hostile takeover (obviously) while the rest were kicked out, killed, or isolated.

    2 groups? I think you need to read more about the history of this conflict. Palestine was inhabited since the 12th century by Muslims (90%), Jews (5%)and Christians (5%). You could say that today’s Muslims are the descendants of Jews that never left and converted to Christianity then to Islam. Current problem starts with the British Mandate Era, IMO to get rid of European Jews

    My husband has these horrible bets with the people at his office This month it's "who can lower their cholesterol the most?"

    They all run out & get tested on the 1st then do it again at the end of the month and the person with the biggest drop wins the betting pool.

    I keep telling him that's not how "health" works, but he's not listening and watched some video about eating a "shot" of garlic juice, lemon and hot peppers. He says he can "feel it working"🙄

    Are there any real tips?

    My husband and I are very health-conscious so a few years ago when his cholesterol was a bit high I got really mad and planned a radical 1-month diet. He had 1 cup of lentils a day, before his (very reduced) regular meal. He had steel cut oats mixed with regular oats for breakfast, not the boxed stuff, mixed by me. No sugar, just cut-up apples and some cinnamon. No more beer, wine or sugary drinks, just water with lemon. He took natural statins from red yeast rice 1/2
