I just read some random Tunnels & Trolls stuff from a few years back and I just feel better about everything.

I've played T&T on and off over the years, as both GM and Player ... But I haven't played a LOT of it. And I'll probably continue as I have, since it's interested in different stuff than I am in many ways.

But I just like it so much. I love the way it's interested in the stuff it's interested in. I love the vibe of it, the brain of it, the attitude of it.

@SJohnRoss I never played it but picked up a book, I think 3rd edition at a used bookstore and decided to run it. Pretty fun and the players, from a wide range of ages who also never played it, had a blast.

"A low-prep, rules-lite RPG" just rolls off of me now. I don't even hear it. It should speak to my preferences, but so many games are making those claims that it does nothing to draw my attention.

Tell me what sets your game apart, what's cool about your setting, what sort of adventures it's built to do really well. If you're not sure how to pitch it that way, then maybe spend a little more time with it. Having a clear vision beyond low-prep, rules-light is a big, big draw.

@nickwedig @SymbolicCity I'm fine with it (low prep/rules lite) being one feature in a game but, like you are saying, at this point it's not a big selling point on its own.

@jewelpit Interesting re: the 3d6. I had forgotten it had alternate dice systems - which was probably a must-have when FUDGE dice were harder to find. Never played it but tested some with my wannabe-game-designer friend in the early 2010s. He was really into tinkering with FUDGE.

It's interesting how the dominant title seems to change every so often.

A few years back, the default starter game was Lamentations of the Flame Princess, then it shifted to Old School Essentials, and now I get the impression that it's shifting to Dungeon Crawl Classics.

Not really sure why this happens... Lamentations had the Zak S thing but OSE haven't messed up and I don't get the impression that DCC has suddenly started doing noticeably better work.

@Tim_Eagon @Taskerland DCC isn't a retroclone or even OSR I would argue. While I haven't played it in a while if you search for it on Kickstarter and Backerkit there is an active scene with projects blowing past funding goals. Maybe there's not much of a community on social media. I think that's on Facebook but not sure.

Google disabled their AI so it will no longer give you a stupid answer when searching for "cheese not sticking to pizza," but the 11-year old Reddit shit post advising to use Elmer's Glue as a remedy that the AI regurgitated yesterday is still the top ranked search result and that's probably even worse.

Sometimes I wish just one Republican state would leave the US to found it's own country.

Just one, which could try out all the book burning, closed borders, fewer women's rights, religios politics, non-scientific medicine — so everyone could really see, what that leads to.

For years, politicians in Europe blamed everything on the EU, but I can assure you, when Britain left our union and became a country with considerable challenges, it crushed the EU blame game in many countries.

Ugh, since I started watching more #TTRPG YouTubers last week, my recommendations are now filled with video after video with clickbaity titles and thumbnails talking about the Cynthia Williams resignation. One is over 2 hours long! There's no way anyone has more information than what Rascal News reported in like three tweets, and they certainly have no insight into the Hasbro C-Suite. I almost regret subscribing to more TTRPG YouTubers. The discourse sucks y'all.

The food truck outside my office has their menu listing different flavors their product comes in (BBQ flavor, Ranch, garlic parmesan, etc.)

But there's no indication on the menu or anywhere else what the thing is that you're buying.

Am I buying fries? meatballs? chicken? wraps? No idea. Just prices and flavors listed.

I would really rather buy a book from Bookshop or a local store versus Amazon. After taxes and shipping it's $56 vs $20 at Amazon. It's a workbook and I'm not seeing any pre-purchased copies. Hard to justify the more expensive route.

@thoughtpunks Probably "Low Life: The Rise of the Lowly". Played one session of it but the group didn't mesh so we didn't play more. My character was a sentient pile of snot-like goo that was teamed up with a sentient twinkie, a mutated animal, and I think a grey alien. It was mostly gross-humor, though.

I love #MotherShip and I especially love it's many adventures, but for a sci-fi horror game, there's not a lot of pure horror scenarios IMO. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of horrific and weird stuff in them, but I'd like to check out some "purer" horror adventures. What are your favorites so I may check them out?
