To go off of my previous toot...

I miss multiplayer where you were physically in the room with people. Playing online is heccin lame by comparison. Those Friday nights with mountain dew, pizza hut, and a going with Goldeneye with your mates was the stuff of legend. Life could never get better than that and it never did.

The turn of the century was the perfect blend of internet and local multiplayer. Games like and Counter-Strike existed, but they were well balanced with a booming interest in LANs. You mixed social life with gaming surrounding yourself physically by like minded gamers. It was far less lonely feeling and toxic.

I miss my hobby. What we had growing up has been replaced by a corporate billionaire wasteland. I'd argue are the only company worth investing in if you're a modern gamer. They still keep those old school sensibilities of releasing a, you know, FINISHED complete video game.

    Alone (2020)

    Today's Saturday featured the 2020 thriller "Alone." It's about a woman picking up her life and moving after a tragedy. Unfortunately along the way she crosses paths with the unexpected.

    Good flick. I was itching for one of these cat and mouse thrillers, and this movie fit the bill. It doesn't do anything particularly new for the genre, but it was well acted and shot.

    Men are scary. I've been afraid of men my entire life, and things only seem to get worse. I enjoy a movie that shows despite being the physically weaker sex when women go feral with rage and fear we're capable of unpredictable feats.

    Played more Fallout 76 this morning. It's quite enjoyable. Honestly, I'm enjoying the gameplay and RPG elements quite a bit more than Fallout 4 even.

    Very insightful and something that really turned me off from the game. I used to be a Raid Main Tank and loved tanking when the game was new-ish. But the greater expectations of perfection and optimization even in random dungeons has fully killed my interest in it.

    @BeAware @Imperor saaaaame. WoW's lore is so endless and enjoyable. It's a shame the game is a video ass video game instead of an actual living breathing world like EverQuest and others that came before it.

    @BeAware @Imperor I've tried ESO so many times. It's a great game hampered by a rather lackluster combat system and a min/max playerbase similar to WoW. Gaming culture of today is absolutely shit.

    @BeAware @Imperor it's really a solid MMO without a vertical progression treadmill. Once you hit max level you can flat out but a gear set that's only 5-10% worse than raid drops for hardly any gold. The game doesn't care about your gear, and that's why I like it so much.

    Instead you focus on making cool outfits, playing alts, acquiring more skill points and achievements, etc engaging with the game's systems rather than a +10str carrot on a stick.

    @Imperor @BeAware the physics feel great! The mounts are incredible feeling. WoW's copy doesn't even capture how good Arenanet did it and far before Blizzard tried to copy/paste.

    Quake II (1997)

    This was peak PC gaming era, imo. Every year was rabidly exciting. Tech advancements were making yearly or even biyearly generational leaps. 3D Accelerators were showing an entire new realm of visual fidelity.

    Quake II was truly a masterpiece of the mid 90's. The lighting, enemy AI, and open multi layered level design pushed the genre forward. Today I feel the game is largely forgotten by many and an underrated classic.

    New instance, new . Hi I'm Jeze... again.

    Oldbytes.space seems like my kinda place as someone who is into and . I like old stuff because I, myself, am old. Lately I've been into modding Quake, Quake II, Wolf3D, and DOOM among others. The were better and that includes gaming. Modern gaming is garbage unless it's Nintendo.

    Right now I'm living my life off of a lemp12 laptop running . I grew up on Windows machines, but is where it's at now that Microsoft has fully enshittified.

    Other than computing I'm into both movies and . Recently decided to get a Kindle and get again to help fuel my .

    Also . BIRDS! I love wild songbirds and parrots of all kinds. Mastodon needs more cockatiel/cockatoo content. Bird owners, where are you?! Post your babies please!

    . I post food sometimes. I'm a huge foodie and anti-picky eater. If you need a kid's menu we cant be friends.
