👏🏻Via Kyle Griffin:

The administration is canceling $7.7 billion in student loans for another 160,000 borrowers through a combination of existing programs.

With the latest action, the admin says it has canceled $167 billion in student debt for nearly 5 million Americans.

@GottaLaff This is great, really. But in the grand scheme, I don't see how after the election, we won't just go back to status quo. How does this address the cost of tuition, the non-dischargable nature of private loans under BAPCPA (2005) as supported by Biden? There is no legislative fix here, and I can't see it as anything more than a political stunt building up to an election year that has already alienated so many young ppl.

Today I saw a number, which I will never forget.

During this war, Russia has launched 5628 Shahed-136 drones towards Ukraine.

That is 5628 times, civilians have heard a buzzing moped engine in the sky, and seen the Shahed-136 strike a civilian home, a power plant, or a school with its 50 kilogram warhead.

For comparison, Hitler struck London with 2857 V1 and V2 rockets — half as many.

I simply do not know what to tell future generations when they ask, why we did not stop the Russian terror.

@randahl and this is just a small subset of the total ordinance, from drones & missiles & bombs & shells that have all targeted Ukraine since the most recent invasion..

@philip_cardella Neither candidate deserves any votes, and too many of us are tired of choosing the lesser evil. At the end of the day, the highest court is your own conscience. A lot of ppl will regret voting for either one.

Capitalism has nothing to do with democracy. In fact, capitalism functions best when democracy cannot interfere.

That’s why — putting their dishonest and misleading rhetoric aside — capitalists always oppose democracy and will seek to shut it down. They’ll keep up the pretense, waving a flag of freedom 🇺🇸 while in reality disabling democratic processes and choking freedom out of existence.
