One creative way would be to stop tipping billions in munitions on a starving population in the wasteland that was Gaza.

But then what?

As soon as the bombing & shooting stop, journalists will want to go in.

And they’ll want to report on what they see.

And we can’t have that.

Paul Abela writes about "The Problem With Living On a Chaotic Planet"...

Tipping points occur when a critical threshold is breached in the Earth system. As soon as it is, it leads to change. Put another way, a tipping point is a point of no return.

What’s so concerning about tipping points is that when one is crossed, it could create a domino effect that will tip others and set in motion radical environmental changes.

Seeing as it’s impossible to model and forecast the impacts of tipping points, they aren’t integrated into climate models. This is why many scientists believe climate models are gravely underestimating future environmental conditions.

So how can we ever manage the complexity and chaos inherent in the Earth system? A logical starting point is to acknowledge that we are not in control. Once this is understood, the need to embrace the precautionary principle becomes clear.

It is safer to assume the worst and plan accordingly than to assume that we can continue with Business As Usual and that a technological breakthrough will somehow save the day. Because the risk of assuming everything will be okay is social collapse. The risk of precaution is that we move towards a sustainable path at a more aggressive rate.

It is a no-brainer, and yet, the reason we are ignoring the enormous risks we face is the same reason climate denial is alive and well. There are powerful vested interests who have everything to lose if we make the necessary transformation of our economy and society that is required.

Global data center energy use is set to triple this year, from 15TWh last year to 46TWh this year.

That's an increase on the order of what Serbia or Ireland consumes in a year.

Given that most of this demand is being driven by Nvidia GPU systems for AI compute and Nvidia is manufacturing capacity limited right now, with all available hardware being installed, we can expect that growth rate to continue, adding another ~30TWh next year — except that the next generation of hardware consumes even more power, so it could be more like an additional 40TWh, another Denmark or New Zealand. If Nvidia gets over their supply chain crunch, this could go much higher, assuming the market and grid can support it. Even with only linear growth, this would put us at ~285TWh by 2030, approximately the same as all of the UK.

It won't, of course — it's an obvious bubble and the infrastructure simply isn't there to support this, but it's a catastrophe in the making regardless.

The media in Europe are ignoring the atrocities of Israel in a level I have never seen before, multiple mass graves have been uncovered (again) close to Al Nasar hospital with over 280 bodies, some handcuffed, some with skin removed and some with possible organs removed.

Compare this to the "mass grave" in Ukraine where Russians had buried Ukraine soldiers with cross over their graves and their dog tag hanging over it and the news coverage and reporting about it.

War crime is war crime, but covering up for these and actively suppressing the voice of those who try to stand up against these repeated and ongoing atrocities is just something I wasn't expecting to see in so called democratic nations.

It would seem Simon Wiesenthal Center, et. al., have felt the need to reach for project work beyond the daily tide of antisemitism (which is quite real) now the last of the WWII era genocidal Nazi maniacs have all but died out.

How ironic they should land in a pogrom of Israel’s own making.

And how incompetent must Israel’s fascist boobs be not to have finished off ‘Hamas’ by now, even with the weight and slaughter-power of US-supplied arms.

The incompetence of the fascist Israeli regime: 30,000+ dead, scores of thousands maimed, millions displaced, virtually all public infrastructure destroyed—hospitals included—and Netanyahu is still no closer to having finished off the ‘Hamas’ bogeyman.

A bogeyman that is, obviously, no less than a proxy for all Gazans, rooted in the hatred and stereotyping of racism, and one of Israel’s most successful propaganda triumphs, given the West’s readiness to swallow it.

👋🏼”A former #Mississippi sheriff’s deputy was sentenced Tuesday to about 20 years in prison for his part in torturing two Black men last year.

Hunter Elward was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Tom Lee, who is also due to sentence five other former law enforcement officers who admitted to subjecting Michael Corey Jenkins and Eddie Terrell Parker to numerous acts of racist torture.”
