I think once he got back on his feet you probably reminded him (through no fault of your own obviously) of that horrible painful time in his life and it may have just been too unbearable to be around you. And he may not have even made that as a conscious decision. Still it’s completely unfair to you and you didn’t deserve that. Your value in being a good person in this world is appreciated, at least by an internet stranger :)

“We’re not mad, we’re just very disappointed”

I was just watching Love Island (don’t judge) and noticed two of the guys who are very good friends were sitting with their legs sort of crossed together. Like the way girls who are close friends would. It stuck out because you don’t really see that much but I was like hey that’s pretty cool, kinda more masculine (at least from my girl perspective) than guys that are all afraid to touch each other

MudSkipperKisser ,

I was starting to think I was crazy bc I don’t see profile pics anywhere! But I guess it’s a Voyager thing

MudSkipperKisser ,

I know I’ve seen you before because your username cracks me up

MudSkipperKisser ,

Sounds fierce! My beagle chihuahua mix will just make very loud high pitched and squawky noises, so as long as your chihuahua still has hearing mine has a chance in a battle

MudSkipperKisser ,

Boat owner here and grew up boating. Mine and my husband’s happiest place is being on the water on our boat. BUT it is expensive and there are a lot of considerations and you very much need to know how to properly operate one and know the rules of the water. For example, docking is a skill in many conditions, it’s way harder than it looks, make sure you understand right of way, constant bearing decreasing range (if a boat looks like it is in the same spot relative to your position but it keeps getting bigger and bigger you’re on a collision course), know how channel markers work (red right returning), know how to read marine maps and understand tides and how much water your boat draws so you never run aground, where are you going to keep your boat-dry slip/wet slip/boat house storage and if it’s dry storage you need a trailer for the boat and a car (truck) that can pull the weight of the boat and the trailer, then you need to learn how to launch a boat (this is just comical to watch people try, me included, I don’t even try). Dock space is expensive, fuel is expensive, maintenance is expensive. Buy used but ask how many hours the boat and engine have on it, don’t just rely on the age. And ask about maintenance history. Know that engines are WAY more expensive than you would think. And please please please take a boat safety course and get your license. If there’s any way you can be on and around other people’s boats and just watch and ask questions for a while I would highly recommend that! Two biggest things- pay attention to the weather and always put the plug in before you launch the boat!!

God speed friend

Realtor and brand and marketing consultant for our brokerage. Not the astronaut or veterinarian I pictured myself as a kid. But still, I’m happy :)

MudSkipperKisser ,

Well I love Paczki with all my heart! I’m spending my $15 on Paczki too

MudSkipperKisser ,

Have you ever been asked to fish one out when it got stuck? Be prepared, it may happen one day

MudSkipperKisser ,

Heyo, run of the mill cis girl here, middle age (that pains me to say it but it’s reality), we’re here. And I’ve honestly noticed the demographic being a lot of mid-30’s and up here. Not exclusively of course but more so than Reddit

MudSkipperKisser ,

If my daily NYT games go down I will do something bad..I don’t know what but it will be somewhere in between knocking over a plate of spaghetti with angry gusto and complete nuclear global obliteration. I’ve yet to decide.

MudSkipperKisser ,

Yes and I’ve largely opted out of the same conversations irl too, for my own mental health I have to check out of certain conversations

MudSkipperKisser ,

One of the things I used to love about Reddit (obviously pre-enshitification) was the openness and willingness within the community to listen to other perspectives and the calm and intelligent discussion of ideas. That became less and less and I miss it. Lemmy gets that herd mentality and if you don’t 100% agree on all points with certain ideas here then you’re just wrong and downvoted away. So I just choose not to engage

MudSkipperKisser ,

Going home. I’m at some weekend festival to support a hobby my husband has become very passionate about. I’m incredibly happy for him and love that he’s found this but it’s just not my thing and I want to go home. Also some asshole at a party last night said something stupid to me to make me feel unnecessarily unwelcome and I really shouldn’t be letting it affect me. Anywho

ETA I also really miss my dogs!

MudSkipperKisser ,

Thank you! I really appreciate that and needed to hear it :)

Now that DuckDuckGo is out. Give me your search prompts and I'll answer them as best I can. That includes images (based on what I have saved on my PC). So what is it you wish to know or see?

Edit: Due to popular demand FatTony Search servers are down for the time being. but has gone open source just in time (Yes that's how it works 😡) . You may now get responses from other users. Servers will be back up some time later.

I’m traveling to their homeland this weekend, I believe there’s a Walmart museum and everything. To be clear I’m not going there for Walmart

MudSkipperKisser ,

Cool ranch Doritos and I keep them out of my house because I will marry them and have little zesty crunchy babies with them if they’re anywhere near me

MudSkipperKisser ,

Where in America? I’m in America and have never seen those!

MudSkipperKisser ,

Your username makes this my favorite comment

How to work with someone that regularly arrives as the wrong answer?

I work with a person that went presented with a problem, works through it and arrives at the wrong solution. When I have them show me the steps they took, it seems like they interpret things incorrectly. This isn't a language barrier, and it's not like they aren't reading what someone wrote....

MudSkipperKisser ,

I don’t think your supervisor is mis-communicating, I think they just don’t know what they want. But they want you to still choose correctly even though there is no correct answer. It’s like when my husband asks what I want for dinner and I tell him “I don’t know, you pick”, there’s definitely a right and wrong answer for his decision but I don’t know it until he chooses it! Yes I know how messed up that is. Anywho, god speed to you

MudSkipperKisser ,

I’ve seen this conversation come up so many times and I’m never not fascinated by it. I have a nonstop internal monologue, it can be exhausting really. But I can’t fully wrap my head around thinking without it

MudSkipperKisser ,

It doesn’t shut off, I think visually and through the experiences of the senses in part too but the words always accompany the images/senses

MudSkipperKisser ,

I’ve battled insomnia for my whole life and not being able to shut off the monologue is the main reason

MudSkipperKisser ,

Oh that’s interesting, I’ll try that

MudSkipperKisser ,

It’s an interesting exercise in trying to understand the experience of others while removing our own biases. Doesn’t always go so well I guess! So how do you think?? I really can’t tell from your comment

MudSkipperKisser ,

Yes…but it has my voice singing on top of the song’s original singer

MudSkipperKisser ,

I googled “congestulate” to see if there was any chance that was an actual word

MudSkipperKisser ,

No, that level of vanity is unattractive to me

MudSkipperKisser ,

I too function this way! Hello human and/or other animal friend

MudSkipperKisser ,

Eyebrows of course

I’d guess they’re there to direct water away from the windows when it rains

MudSkipperKisser ,

Well with the right tools and inspiration it could be a murder house

MudSkipperKisser ,

My god you are living the dream! Well my dream anyway

MudSkipperKisser ,

I am fantastically happy with this content here personally

MudSkipperKisser ,

The NYT games are my morning ritual but I haven’t seen strands before, that’s exciting! I know it’s beta but I wish it showed up in the games app, hopefully soon

MudSkipperKisser ,

My husband just discovered the same a few days ago while driving to work, said he had to pull over for a while

MudSkipperKisser ,

No, he’s a rocket surgeon!

MudSkipperKisser ,

I didn’t know that I needed this, thanks!

MudSkipperKisser ,

I hope these take off, I just subscribed to two of them

[Urgent] How do you know your computer or phone isn't spying on you ?

This maybe a dumb question but i became paranoid all of a sudden and wanted some answers because i can't find it anywhere else nor can i sleep without it. Like even if i did flash linux on a lets say amd laptop couldn't the chip itself be spying on me ? Also i understand bootloaders are stored or rom is there a way to know what...

MudSkipperKisser ,

I’ll always remember that Reddit (it feels awkward typing that name here…) post where a user discerned from a post that the OP was likely suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning. OP checked it out and there were high levels in his house, random internet stranger basically saved the guy’s life.

MudSkipperKisser ,

Yeah, two me’s would just amplify my indecisiveness to an unbearable level, I think we’d just explode together
