"There's no solution" - says the motherfucking fucks responsible for FUCKING UP the shit and ensuring govts DON'T treat them like the criminals they are. "B-b-b-but think of my profits the economy!" - I love how profits for the next quarter are more important than long term survival for them.

Nobody is going after the big oil companies and ordering them to slow the fuck down. Nobody is telling the saudis to fuck off. Thanks to thinking of "the economy", we'll be on a very, VERY nasty future. But hey, that diamond studded yacht was worth it!

Don't forget all the politics involved in getting funds for your research. Fun times!

ICastFist ,

The worst part about video tutorials: you can't CTRL + F, search, specific things. You can't jump straight to your problem. The best you can do is skip to a point where it may be what you actually need to know.

For game walkthroughs, you could just ctrl-f the spot you needed to know about. On a recipe, ctrl-f "boil at" or "bake at" to check the correct temperature and time. On programming, ctrl-f the function name or part of the line you suppose might be where your problem is.

Video? Gotta remember the fucking timestamps. Google doesn't help by pushing youtube at every opportunity and downplaying every small blog, either.

In the OP's comic, it certainly takes longer to figure "would what?"

The original above with the angel has "monster fucker" on the person, so it's a bit easier to deduce, "would fuck"

Word. The closest I found to the feel of Freelancer was X3 back in 2010, but the differences were glaring.

There this Underspace that seems to be a "Freelancer meets Cthluhu", I've yet to play the demo to get a feel of the space.

Mega Man Legends. Fuck you, Capcom, for killing the blue boy.

A new Command and Conquer Generals. It was a big departure from the classical C&C formula of stuff being built on the UI on the right and more like every other RTS, but it was fun nonetheless. Zero Hour bringing the specialized generals was also a nice idea.

Dunno if it counts as a game, but something like MTV Music Generator on PS1 and PS2 would be awesome, especially with the ease of sharing stuff around nowadays.

There are many Star Wars games that deserve a second chance, but I think Republic Commando could really use the sequels "Imperial Commando" and "Rebel Commando" first. I'd personally love a sequel to Jedi Academy

With all the "boomer shooters" making a comeback, Heretic and Hexen could receive their respective 3rd installments.

Lastly, Virtual On Cyber Troopers. Something that plays like the very first game of 1995, that'd be 😗👌. I think that game is what paved the way for the many Gundam games that play a lot like it - On PC, you can get a taste of that gameplay with Bootfighter Windom XP

Speaking of 3D fighters, Power Stone and that Spawn game on the Dreamcast, we could use more stuff like that

ICastFist ,
@ICastFist@programming.dev avatar

The Dreamcast Spawn game is kinda like Power Stone (it's also by Capcom, so there's that), in that it's a small battlefield and the characters can all duke it out, only there are guns, grenades, knives, swords and blood (also offense/defense/health power ups). The control is rather clunky, as you move with the d-pad instead of the analog stick. Totally worth checking out

If the USA wasn't starting and fighting wars it began without provocation , maybe there'd be less groups interested in "going there".

Besides, of the countries the USA considers an enemy, only Russia can ever "realistically" invade 'murica, and that's assuming they only focus on Alaska. Even if USA only had 1/3 of its current military, it'd send the Russians packing due to logistical advantage.

The only other route for Russia, China or anyone to invade is to use Cuba as a staging ground, which is not only very susceptible to a naval blockade, it's also within range of fuckloads of USA missiles.

The games have a number of captains, and they will sometimes fight among themselves. The winner will get stronger and level up. The player can attack these captains, too, who may have a strong point or a weakness. If the player dies while fighting, the captain grows stronger and will taunt the player on a rematch. If the player manages to make the captain flee and live, he may develop a fear for the player

There are many things that can define the captains, such as fears (of the player, of fire, of wargs), weaknesses (to stealth, to arrows, to fire) and even immunities (to arrows, to stealth, you get the drill)

Also, if the player dies to an unamed orc, said orc will become a captain. I vaguely remember some captains coming back to life, if they weren't decapitated on the killing blow. They return weaker, but will comment on wanting revenge.

As a final note, Shadows of Mordor is a pretty fun game. Think of it as Assassin's Creed exploration with Batman Arkham City combat. Not the most faithful game to Tolkien's work, but it's good.

And then some tax haven country will offer a tiny tax of 0.01% on a super specific kind of "investment", just to ensure its local lawyers and accountants stay employed by offering "investment consultancy" services to the rich.

The irony is that said systems that successfully block access are how many websites worked as far back as the late 90s, with "member exclusive" areas.

(Incidentally, odd that emoji aren’t flat design.)

That actually depends on browser, app or OS that's doing the render. Apple and Whatsapp use the same design, Android uses a slightly different one, Discord and Microsoft both use flat designs, but for Win11 it's a different set

ICastFist ,
@ICastFist@programming.dev avatar

The irony is that you could go nuts with those color customizations on Windows 95-98-2000. Not to the point of active windows having different colors, but the title bar of the active window could be blue with red text, while inactives could be yellow with purple text, if you so wanted.

ICastFist ,
@ICastFist@programming.dev avatar

You know the worst part about flat design? Fucking "hamburger menu". Fuck that shit.

The second worst part? "Text? Lol get real, old man!" Menus that don't have text so I have to guess what the fucking icons mean on every different app/site.
