Don't worry, the rich pumped NVDA stock so you know where your stolen money went 😊

HerrBeter ,

Yes - but why did he let it happen? I'm thinking more that Putin willfully neglected any action against it because <reason>. Maybe he wants to mobilise more and wants people to feel like they're under attack?

HerrBeter ,

Noo the gubernment can't have teeth! Won't anyone think of the billionaires!?

HerrBeter ,

Problem is the total accumulated CO2 already there. We would need to be net zero yesterday to mitigate imo.

Capitalistic institutions haven't been serious or motivated enough to make any real effort. They'll make up their next cop-out like carbon credits or whatever

HerrBeter ,

50 000 people used to live here, now, it's a ghost town

HerrBeter ,

Exactly, it's pointless to stay for the sake of defending rubble. If the position is indefensible, move and set up a new line, ground can be reconquered however lives can't be resurrected.

HerrBeter ,

Because no CCS method has worked. Besides the sea equilibrium means CO2 will be favoured and replaced.

There are no free rides on the thermodynamic train, this energy will probably come from fossil fuels depending on where in the US. I'm not against the idea, but it's been a false promise of hope for a decade or so.

HerrBeter ,

There's no chance that they can remove the yearly added CO2. If they were serious, net zero would be 2025

HerrBeter ,

Food production is "artificially" cheap. There's a middle man taking a big cut, and there's somewhere where the cut is taken. Be it poverty wages for poor immigrant workers or animal welfare, there is no price small enough considered by the powers that be for constant production of cheap food.

Chart: Is LNG worse for the climate than coal? Research suggests that liquefied natural gas can have a bigger emissions footprint than coal, undermining LNG’s status as a “bridge fuel.” ( www.canarymedia.com )

Sus

Edit so coal has been deemed the absolute worst energy bearer for combustion but suddenly there's a report that the somewhat better natural gas is dirtier?

HerrBeter ,

Allegedly she wants to kill unions and workers rights too

eBay restricted my account permanently and won't help me with it

I'm a casual eBay user. On rare occasions, I will sell household items when I no longer use them. Well, I went to sell my Nintendo Switch on eBay and found out my account has been restricted indefinitely selling. When I tried chat with the customer service agent, they provided a name of some entity that I don't recognize in...

HerrBeter ,

I bought one thing on Ebay, thinking VAT was included, because that's how you buy things here (my offer included VAT). But afterwards they put on 25% what the duck. Then I just thought no more

HerrBeter ,

Don't worry, it's peanuts compared to the FEDs cheap loans they've been doing to banks who'd go under.

HerrBeter ,

[citation needed]?

HerrBeter ,

How do you mean I was bragging?

I wonder why you are so insecure that you feel you must try to insult everyone in every sentence.

Do you mean approximating? Could just round it up so it's divisible by ten and remove the excess but it's not the answer. Calculating the limits I.e 164*1,6 took more time.

Besides, I can't fathom why everyone should have to convert everything by themselves, this would be the effect of the suggestion. It would be the absolute most needless, time wasting, and unnecessary effort society could do.

HerrBeter ,

Now you're projecting

HerrBeter ,

My brother in Carl XVI Gustaf think twice, no one thinks you're hard nor funny.

You do yourself a disservice by continuing to hide insecurities by pushing others down.

Experts Confirm: Icelandic Faultline Has Awakened After 800 Years ( www.sciencealert.com )

A volcanic eruption that has engulfed homes in an Icelandic fishing port confirms that a long-dormant faultline running under the country has woken up, threatening to belch out lava with little warning for years to come, an expert warned on Tuesday....

HerrBeter ,

What happens after the dust settles? I imagine we'd just be right were we started but worse off (conjecture)

HerrBeter ,

Yeah, pyroclastic ones. I know I heard some scientists and plebians advocate for releasing sulfur dioxide for the purpose of reflecting solar radiation, thereby lowering the temperature.

It's the most band-aid of solutions, suppress the symptoms.. Plant growth might stagger because less light comes through. To tie it together, that's my question about how we would fare afterwards. I imagine worse off

HerrBeter ,

I don't think people thought about it too much. But it shouldn't be allowed, even if it's a joke

HerrBeter ,

Food is simply too cheap, no one can raise prices because it's a controlled system. Besides, people will buy less stuff it prices go up.

And paying an honest wage for the work? Cuts into profit margins..

HerrBeter ,

To a certain extent. But aren't the countries in the near vicinity the most able?

HerrBeter ,

At this point if rather have quality over quantity

HerrBeter ,

".. And with the potential lower profit margin for the ultra rich.."

HerrBeter ,

Why do they build universities over TNT-soil?

Video gamers worldwide may be risking irreversible hearing loss and/or tinnitus ( medicalxpress.com )

Video gamers worldwide may be risking irreversible hearing loss and/or tinnitus—persistent ringing/buzzing in the ears—finds a systematic review of the available evidence, published in the open access journal BMJ Public Health....

HerrBeter ,

I played video games for 22 years: no hearing loss

Practiced bagpipes indoor, big room, a few times: like 30dB hearing loss.

Idk

Mix in a bit of slavery, I too think it's a form of imperialism

HerrBeter ,

What's cutthroat capitalism then?

HerrBeter ,

I'm sure the country with probably the most coups of others wouldn't do such a thing as pick marionettes for others... Right??

HerrBeter , (edited )

Wouldn't that be being reactive rather than proactive?

Edit: you can downvote me but the truth will still be the same

HerrBeter ,

The student loan interest rates are exuberant, while I support the nullification of times past, I'd also like to see the core issue being taken care of
