Even though I don’t use Facebook and haven’t for a few years, even though I did leave a forwarding post on there letting folks know that I’m not on FB but on Mastodon or my blog (with links to both), I still get scores of people sending me happy birthday messages on my fb account. Some of them have my number, even, but rather than text me, they send their happy birthday messages there. They even could have emailed me, but none of them did. It’s so very weird. Ever since I left FB, my pool of friends has dried right up. It kinda feels like my fb account is a memorial account, and they are honouring my memory rather than trying to contact me. I am so weirded out by this behaviour.
