Daily #Wales today is another wild flower, the quite unlikely bee orchid (Ophrys apifera), which is really rare round here. There’s one spot, in a dune slack, and that’s it. Not saying which set of dunes, either …
#Catherine, #Princess of #Wales, has #cancer
“In Jan, I underwent major abdominal surgery,” said Catherine, in a video posted on Kensington Palace’s social media. “At the time, it was thought that my condition was noncancerous. The surgery was successful, however tests after the operation found that cancer had been present.”
Daily #Wales, walking down on to the beach. But not this week - we have had very high tides, with the sea right up to the dunes (and partly over).
Interesting driving, too, as the tide is no respecter of the A496 between Barmouth and Dolgellau. No pics. Too busy trying to drive while keeping fingers crossed.
Morning all. Bore da. It's St David's Day. Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Hapus! And what better way to celebrate than with a lovely red kite (with parallel translation!). xx
Online seminar TODAY: Saints' lives in Wales, Cornwall, Brittany
Dr Karen Jankulak is speaking TODAY (Tue 27 Feb) at 5 pm GMT (= noon EST) to the Dept of Welsh and Celtic Studies at Aberystwyth on 'What can hagiography tell us about medieval connections between Wales, Cornwall, and Brittany?'
The seminar takes place in Room 0.25 Cledwyn Building and on Zoom.
@Tim_Eagon you’re asking if I bought anything through Mastadon. Yes. Earrings, I believe. I’d add a picture, but I’m not sure. Maybe the beautiful green marble disk creations that are beautiful with my stone pendant. What I still want to buy is a #dragon mug made by someone in #wales. I tracked down her (?) site, but I think she does custom work. I like seeing things for sale here. It breaks up the feed.
Speaking of his experience growing up gay and working-class in Wales, Welsh Labour leader Jeremy Miles says that he felt "on the outside" growing up, and this experience has caused him to say:
"The heart of my politics is that people should feel they belong.”
