#Bowman was defeated by #GeorgeLatimer, the Westchester County exec, in a race that became the year’s ugliest intraparty brawl & the most expensive #House primary in history.
It began last fall when #Bowman stepped forward as one of the leading critics of #Israel’s #war w/ #Hamas. But the contest grew into a broader proxy fight around the future of the #Democratic Party, exposing painful fractures over #race, #class & #ideology in a diverse district that includes parts of #Westchester & the #Bronx.
The district’s 1st #Black congressperson & a committed democratic #socialist, never wavered from his calls for a #CeaseFire in #Gaza or #left-wing economic priorities.

Forming an actual working party separate from the establishment is crucial to any real #socialist or #communist movement in the USA. Channeling revolutionary energy into a party that represents the interests of the rich will only prolong the rule of capital.

#Amazon and other distribution companies have convinced us that buying stuff we don't need and ends up in the landfill within months is also a normal way of life
#FastFashion has convinced us that getting new clothes monthly is a normal way of life
None of these things were normal before we normalized them.
@ScientistRebellion They didn't "convince" us of anything, they realized it was far more profitable to reduce the quality and lifespan of their products. It is far too late to resist, what we need is a world #socialist#revolution to overthrow the criminals destroying our planet.
Keir Starmer appears to think this is a get out of jail free card, on accusations of backtracking on previous promises:

While he may well be right that things have been made so much worse in the last three years that earlier promises have been undermined.... for many, its a series of shifts that have suggested he wasn't serious in the first place.
As for Diane Abbott & #Corbyn, both are in ther 70s & in #Labour's past. The country gave their verdict on them in 2019, which led to the biggest election dry bumming in political history.
The world has moved on, & so has Labour. If Corbyn & Abbott so wish, they can join forces with Derek Hatton, Momentum, NIP & the #Socialist Workers Party & put their case to the #UK electorate.
They haven't, so the question remains, if the have all the answers, why haven't they? 🤔
