Love is real & never dies!!! Nyota the lovebirb & Boobear the 27-year-old cockatiel are being so cute together today...

A green lovebird with a sparkle in her eye is preening the white cheeks of a male white-faced cockatiel, who has turned his head so his crest is flipped adorably against her tummy. His eyes are closed in an expression of bliss. These are my two senior rescue birds, Nyota the Lovebird & Boobear the Cockatiel, both domestic bred pet birds. Photo by Peachfront. June 2024.

    this is the first long-tailed tit I've seen in real life, spotted on today's walk along the river

    the tiny bird stopped flapping its wings
    it hopped around and grabbed a sprouting twig
    the little bird did more acrobatics on branches

    Blue-Wing feed by diving and nibbling along the bottom of the water for vegetation and small insects and mollusks.
    In this , one teal has its head underwater, feeding. The other has just finished and is swimming on the water’s surface at the Merritt Island National Refuge.

    Lesser Yellowlegs

    I saw this lesser yellowlegs (Tringa flavipes) at the pond across from my hotel.

    "Despite their very similar appearance, Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs are not each other’s closest relatives. Lesser Yellowlegs is more closely related to the much larger Willet." - allaboutbirds.org

    This lesser yellowlegs iswalking from left to right, knee deep in green water. I can see where the water swirles around its yellow legs. The bird has an oval body and tail that has a duck shape, even its head is is not unfamiliar. But it has a long straight, black, pointed beak. The featers on its back and head are a brownish gray, its underside is white. "A slender and elegant, medium-sized shorebirds with long legs and a long neck. The bill is straight and thin, only slightly longer than the bird's head (shorter and straighter than Greater Yellowlegs' bill). Breeding Lesser Yellowlegs are grayish brown birds with vivid yellow legs. They have fine, gray streaking across the head and neck, a white eyering, and white spots on the back and wings. Nonbreeding birds are more subdued gray-brown with less streaking and spotting. Bill is entirely dark." - allaboutbird.org
