Plagiopus oederianus or Apple moss, seen on Saturday and a lifer for me. It was very unique looking with all the green balls!

🌱☘️🌿 Adventures of a baby snail called Rainbow🌈 as “Robinson Crusoe” - stranded on an island, surrounded by water.

Added some calcium carbonate (similar to chicken egg shell) for nutrition.

150 frames captured at 30-second intervals. Played back at 15 frames per second! 🐌🐚

Time for a to cheer us all up. I love the different colours on display here, showing the exquisite sensitivity of moss to the smallest changes in conditions, and its commitment to clinging even upon bare rock.

Well, time for a new since the folks over at mastodon.scot decided that it's anti-semitism to call very obvious Israeli propaganda accounts out for being zionist, and thus nuked my account 🖕 Other than speaking out against fascism I post about , , , , , and whatever else catches my eye. Nice to meet y'all!

Hiked into/out of a volcanic crater today. It was raining (not unexpected in a rainforest), but it made it feel like Jurassic Park and I got some neat pictures :blobcatpuffyblush:

Mosstodon might like a couple of these.

    Giant fern fiddlehead.
    Tiny purple fern fiddlehead.
Some tiny pink pompom flowers up close.

The rain is clobbering us in CA, but the mosses are living their best lives right now. This kind was so vivid green, with bursts of sparks flying out! What kind of moss is this, ? Some sort of screw-moss like Tortula sp.? Found on a neglected backyard shed roof in Vacaville, CA

For : A pair of amplexing Pinocchio Rain Frogs (Pristimantis appendiculatus) high in the Mindo cloud forests in Ecuador. Many of the trees up there are covered with moss, so the tuberculate nubbins (sciencey term) help the frogs to blend in.
