Just arrived - a box with the first physical copies of my book Make: Radio!
My goal was to write a book for beginners and electronics hobbyists, exploring radio circuits with inexpensive and easily available modern components. All circuits in the book can be built on breadboard.

Did you know that Mastodon apps can work with non-Mastodon accounts too?
Mastodon is one type of server on the Fediverse, but there are also lots of non-Mastodon Fediverse servers compatible with Mastodon apps through the "Mastodon API". This compatibility allows even new types of server with tiny userbases to have apps, although it can restrict the range of features the app offers.
There is more info about this topic and lots of questions answered at:
You can go to radiooooo.com (that's 5 o's), look at the world map, select a country, select a decade, and then listen to music from that time and place. For free. No ads. No idea how or why but it exists. Check it out!

A #dday tribute to my late friend, CBS correspondent Richard C. Hottelet. Here’s his radio report, filed after flying over the invasion beaches in a bouncing, low-flying bomber. He was met back in the studio by Ed Murrow, who had brought along a bucket in case Dick had to throw up.
He didn’t have to use it.
Also: a photo of Eisenhower’s order, authorizing Dick to cover the landings and their aftermath.

As an extension of having really gotten into #audiobooks lately as somebody who doesn't drive and walks or rides the bus everywhere, the next nerdy thing I want to get into is radio plays. I found a collection of episodes of the original The Shadow series and have started researching BBC productions and radio play style podcasts too.
If anybody has any recommendations please let me! Especially into like #horror and #scifi
I had a really fun conversation with @jesse and the hosts of KPCW's "Cool Science Radio" about our forthcoming book "The Secret Life of Data" from @themitpress. Check it out here:
Today in Labor History March 18, 1968: The staff of San Francisco's "progressive" rock station KMPX-FM walked out on strike citing a lack of control over programming & "hassles over the whole long-hair riff." Performers like the Rolling Stones, Joan Baez, the Jefferson Airplane and the Grateful Dead requested the station not play their music as long as the station was run by strikebreakers.
ℹ On Dec.20 Antoinette #Lattouf signed off from the #Sydney#radio show she was hosting with a promise she'd be back the next day
"Can't wait," she told listeners
But the veteran journalist and presenter did not return to the airwaves. Later that afternoon she was sacked, with her boss saying the order had come from "above"
She was only three days into a week-long stint filling in as host of the local Mornings show on the Australian ⏩
Hi. Did you know there's a library of free-to-use music for your next #podcast, university assignment, #radio show or perhaps powerpoint presentation?
I painstakingly made everything here and I'm not done yet. There are at present, 171 tracks but over a thousand variants, and it's all yours for the price of 0.00.
I do have to warn you however, that if you plan to use any of the tracks between 1 and 150 on youtube, you will be hit with a silly copyright claim that I have no intention of issuing takedowns for, so please, despite that, feel free regardless.
If you like what you hear, please boost for larger reach. My goal is to have a library of high-quality tracks for anyone to use for any purpose whatsoever. Thank you.
