Hailing from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Southwest Virginia, I'm a big time film nerd (with a particular love of David Lynch & 20th century horror), an avid reader of a broad range (but 70s 80s horror and sci-fi paperbacks and political history are my jam) and part-time poet when I'm less stable/more inspired, indie rock geek with a strong Americana twist. I'm ace-leaning and a committed friend of the Trans community, genderqueer he/they, mental health awareness advocate with schizoaffective.

My biggest question about the universe is do professional sports test for psychic abilities since you know you might be able to tell what route the opposing receiver is gonna run.

I said out to my TV "Oh no Mia Sara, don't get naked for TIMECOP"

On #Peacock I saw a preview for a show where Orlando Bloom does extreme sports to "find something" in himself. I guess it would be too on the nose to call it "Orlando Bloom Has a Midlife Crisis" #TV

As an extension of having really gotten into #audiobooks lately as somebody who doesn't drive and walks or rides the bus everywhere, the next nerdy thing I want to get into is radio plays. I found a collection of episodes of the original The Shadow series and have started researching BBC productions and radio play style podcasts too.

If anybody has any recommendations please let me! Especially into like #horror and #scifi

I want to start a book club that only reads books in William Shatner's entirely ghostwritten, critically reviled multimedia series TekWar. Once we end, we watch the TV movies and play the poorly received Doom-clone game too.

So I did end up watching The Crow last night. I sometimes forget how overwrought and earnest 90s art could be, but I loved nearly every minute of it (the visuals, action, and soundtrack mostly) - it was like being transported back to 1994.

@Tim_Eagon I haven't watched that movie in so long, my goth soul feels like I need to revisit it and see how it stacks up my vague like 13 year old memories

@Tesqovara @Tim_Eagon I've been buy crazy with VHS tapes lately on eBay since I got a free little 20 inch CRT TV. I am now tempted to spend 8 dollars I shouldn't to get a VHS copy of The Crow lmao

@Tim_Eagon few do, I picked my up on eBay sometime last summer for maybe $40-50 bucks. It's scratched up externally, but works like a champ.

In my new project of watching every episode of the original run of Unsolved Mysteries on the Roku Channel, it only took until the 2nd episode until we got a #DnD and LARPing referencing Satanic Panic segment. It simply wouldn't be 1988 without it.

@Tim_Eagon Oh yeah it totally did me too, I watched both reruns and first runs tons when I was a kid and I loved it, but it definitely freaked me out sometimes, especially when they'd do supernatural stuff like UFOs or whatever.

The best part of being friends with a couple hardcore nerds as I've been slowly trying to learn more about wrestling history along with my fandom is that when I ask for recommendations of old eras to watch one of them they can name specific matches or episodes.

Watching my BluRay copy of it is really amazing to me just how bad all the pointless CGI animals and shots they added to the Mos Eisley sequence in '97 look. They have aged so far worse than any of the SFX from the original '77 cut, I really don't know why Disney hasn't just offered an official De-Special Editioned version of the film, I think a lot of people would want it.
