Time for a #Mosstodon to cheer us all up. I love the different colours on display here, showing the exquisite sensitivity of moss to the smallest changes in conditions, and its commitment to clinging even upon bare rock.
Well, time for a new #Introduction since the folks over at mastodon.scot decided that it's anti-semitism to call very obvious Israeli propaganda accounts out for being zionist, and thus nuked my account 🖕 Other than speaking out against fascism I post about #catsofmastodon, #programming, #gamedev, #mosstodon, #knitting, #naturephotography and whatever else catches my eye. Nice to meet y'all!
Hiked into/out of a volcanic crater today. It was raining (not unexpected in a rainforest), but it made it feel like Jurassic Park and I got some neat pictures :blobcatpuffyblush:
The rain is clobbering us in CA, but the mosses are living their best lives right now. This kind was so vivid green, with bursts of sparks flying out! What kind of moss is this, #mosstodon? Some sort of screw-moss like Tortula sp.? Found on a neglected backyard shed roof in Vacaville, CA
For #FrogFriday: A pair of amplexing Pinocchio Rain Frogs (Pristimantis appendiculatus) high in the Mindo cloud forests in Ecuador. Many of the trees up there are covered with moss, so the tuberculate nubbins (sciencey term) help the frogs to blend in. #glamplexus#frogs#herps#nature#mosstodon
