A second republican, Mike Gallagher, has decided he will not complete his term or seek reelection. Given the narrow majority republicans hold this must be alarming.
It makes me wonder what exactly is going on with the conference? What were they asked to do? There is the chaos with the budget... but I'm thinking about what sort of plans are being laid for November.
Gallagher is a conservative and I don't agree with much of what he's said. But he was very rational in his response to Jan. 6.
@futurebird They might be thinking that if they stay in they’re going to be primaried by some nut job magat. If they make a clean break now and hopefully the maga cult breaks up in a few years, they’ll have a way back into the gop and not have to answer for crazy votes they’re expected to cast by their leadership right now.
The idea is for enough states where Biden wins to either not certify his win or delay long enough, or maybe even certify Trump instead, to keep Biden from getting to 270 electoral votes. That will throw the decision on who wins the election to the US House of Representatives.
So Republicans in the House need to weed out any of their caucus who will not go along with overriding the will of the people to install Trump as POTUS.
A failed coup is a training exercise. They've learned lessons and are working on their new coup plot from all angles and top to bottom.
@futurebird I'm afraid that the extremists have decided that they don't need what they call RINOs and are running them out. They don't need a majority if we don't have a democracy.
@futurebird my hope is they’re all just sort of sick of having to work with their peers and deciding they can have more fun and make more money elsewhere.
