In NRW you have to put 2 tons of Thermite on it, set it on fire and escape alive to pass your test. True story!

johncarneyau ,
@johncarneyau@mastodon.social avatar

@lowqualityfacts in Idaho you have to take a load of your examiner’s potatoes and sell them at the local farmers market..

@lowqualityfacts But for real, people who go onto offshore oil rigs have to pass a test where they're strapped into a helicopter shell and dropped into a pool upsidedown. They have to be able to unstrap themselves and get out safely in order to be certified. (There are divers on standby with air for people who panic and such just in case).

Obviously... local car dealers got that law passed via their lobbyists.

@lowqualityfacts In a peculiar coincidence, this is true in both Georgia the US state and Georgia the former-soviet nation.

Actually... I can see that a dunk tank escape would be a good addition to the driving test here. I'm gonna write to my MP and suggest it. People keep dying in floods or in lakes because they can't get out of their cars if they end up in water. Good call, Fact Merchant.

@lowqualityfacts Ah, I grew up in Ga so I can help you there. This rule only applies in Charlton, Ware, Brantley and Clinch counties. Those counties contain the Okefenokee Swamp**. **In that area, you can be driving down a main road and suddenly find yourself under six feet of water with alligators swimming above you.

There are other problems in various parts of the state. Chickens are a particular problem in the Gainsville area.

In Georgia, you must submerge your vehicle in water, contemplate on the nihilism of the concept of life while drowning to pass your driver's license on to your heirs.

zemsgram ,
@zemsgram@mstdn.social avatar

@lowqualityfacts Based on personal observations when driving in Georgia, this cannot be true. Although perhaps most Georgia drivers don’t even bother getting a license so I guess it could be true.

@lowqualityfacts This is also true in Wisconsin, Minnesota and North Dakota -- which is why the DVM test facilities are closed during the winter months in those states.

@lowqualityfacts they've really loosened the requirements. When I lived there you had to rescue a fake baby from a car seat in the back as well.
