🇬🇧 A Tory social media campaign suggests the party fears a #Labour landslide in the upcoming general election, as minister #GrantShapps says they are fighting to avoid a #Labour "supermajority"
The Conservatives' latest advertising campaign appears to target potential #Reform voters, warning them that the Tories could be reduced to just 57 seats in the next parliament, even if #Reform picked up no seats ⏩
I have a suspicion that #KeirLabour might not be as left wing as people think.
I think traditional #Labour voters are going to be in for a shock. And if that's the case, #Labour's majority will be slashed at the May 2029 #election.
They're going to win, either way, but it'll be interesting to see how the term develops.
I suspect their honeymoon period could be quite short lived.
And what happens if #Trump gets in? Then #putin controls the world, not #America.
Well I do not think you can blame #Labour if the #OrangeMenace gets in this Autumn, nor for what he might do. FWIW I think he has shot his bolt.... assuming #Biden does not keel over meantime
I am not sure #Left & #Right are adequate - I do think the new govt will be better, and will do good in terms of regulation and organisation but not waste time on stuff that costs money & is hard to finish - unlike #sunak with his #rwanda idiocy
↪ #UK#politics is - really - designed to swing from left to right like a metronome. Too much in one direction is destabilising for the #British public and can lead to extremists becoming popular - as we have with #Reform, or as I call #putin's party, Deform.
It's interesting to see how long stretches of a single party never really work out.
It's as if they never knew how to run a country for any reasonable amount of time, but just get by for a term or two by blagging it before they get kicked out whilst saying "If only we'd had more time, we would've succeeded."
In short, none of them are capable of running a country, but are able to pull the wool over everyone's eyes just long enough before eviction.
If you say so.... I was quite happy with Blair/Brown (apart from the Iraq War) but they got blown up by greedy bankers in a crisis that was none of their making
@JSharp1436 They wouldn’t be saying a word, except to boast triumphantly, if it were the Conservatives facing a posible majority/supermajority; it would be all ‘the people have spoken’ kind of stuff. They seem a bit frit. Personally, I hope it’s a hung parliament with LibDem, SNP, Greens, PlaidCymru holding the balance. If Reform reduce the Tory vote even more, they will combine to become one farther right party, and hopefully be unelectable for even longer.
I too am hoping for a hung parliament of sorts, but I think #Labour will easily dominate this election. But #Shapps is right about a supermajority, although technically, a majority is a majority irrespective of its size (kind of), but a balance of sorts would be good, yes.
