Jacqui Lewis speaks of the carnage now occurring in Rafah:
"What if these were my children; how could I go on breathing? Then another thought comes quickly: All these children belong to all of us. As James Baldwin wrote 'The children are always ours, every single one of them, all over the globe; and I am beginning to suspect that whoever is incapable of recognizing this may be incapable of morality.'”
"U.S.-made bombs are being dropped. Our tax dollars are paying for this horror. Just weeks ago, President Biden said that attacking Rafah would be his final limit before taking action. They are bombing Rafah. Children are dying. Where is the action? Call the White House at 202-456-1111 and demand we stop funding this carnage."
@mastobit I suspect Biden and his administration will continue dragging their feet, but am mystified at the notion that they're responsible for the police presence on campuses. Credible media reports in the case of Columbia show that super-right pro-Israel business leaders twisted the university administration's arm to call in the police. I suspect this happened on more than that campus.
@mastobit I think no well-informed person would say that either party is immune to this kind of lobbying.
I also think that any sane and well-informed person can see clearly that the two parties are not equivalent, not the same, and that both-sidesism is wildly inaccurate.
If Trump and the Republicans regain control of the government, the situation in the Middle East will be much worse. I refuse to entertain rhetoric that will help that to happen.
@wdlindsy@mastobit That person you are talking to doesn’t really respond to what anyone says, they just spam stuff in other people’s replies. I’d block them if I were you.
@Mallulady Who says that Jacqui Lewis' statements are overkill?
Who, from what vantage point, is making that judgment? Those losing children in Israel and Gaza? Do they say this rhetoric is overkill? Who's passing this judgment, precisely?
@wdlindsy Nooooo, that is not what I meant!!! What happened in Israel is not right and I felt what is happening in Gaza seemed heartbreaking too. And it is not stopping. I hate terrorism and wars.
@LALegault Yes, this is what Jacqui Lewis is referring to when she writes, "President Biden said that attacking Rafah would be his final limit before taking action."
