I'm not saying that JPEG wasn't lacking in memes before, but it certainly does feel like the great and magical Webm and Webp have exasperated the issue.
Ah thanks! I didn't know where to find the original meme from the Tumblr post that I had snipped from my friend's Instagram story and then uploaded to imgur so I could post it on Lemmy.
There isn't any of the Pacific missing in this projection...you can see right where it starts at the Bering Strait and ends in the exact same place. If this map were centered on the Pacific it would probably seem larger, but there's none missing.
The French is on point. I live in Quebec, I speak French all day, but it’s not my first language.
When I was in Paris, I started speaking French, but they kept answering me in English.
And of course they’ll complain about your French accent while speaking to you with an even worse English accent with no self awareness whatsoever.
I’m speaking of Parisian assholes here of course, I’ve heard the rest of the country is actually quite pleasant (and also tend to dislike Parisians) but I haven’t visited yet, only Paris unfortunately.
So in other countries, like Canada and the UK, red is Flannel and blue is Denim, but in the 80's as elections were televised, the Denim and Flannel parties didn't have set colors. Some stations aired their map as green and yellow, some purple and orange, but ultimately Denim took on Red through most stations. This was an odd choice, but because Denim was red, Flannel took the obvious counter color, blue.
I looked up the South African band. They mostly go by Xavleg. The full name is an initialism for "Acidic Vaginal Liquid Explosion Generated By Mass Amounts Of Filthy Fecal Fisting And Sadistic Septic Syphilic Sodomy Inside The Infected Maggot Infested Womb Of A Molested Nun Dying Under The Roof Of A Burning Church While A Priest Watches And Ejaculates In Immense Perverse Pleasure Over His First Fresh Fetus". They are a Christian band.
I was familiar with Overthrust from Botswana just to the north because Vice did an amazing article on them years ago (that fortunately has been captured by the Wayback Machine since the photos are gone on the live site):
There's something fishy going on here cause after some light ddging it seems Portugal has an incarceration rate of about 110 inmates per 100,000 people. Also I found this same map elsewhere and it does not show Portugal in red.
