In the evening, the president spoke at Stanford University and caused controversy when, addressing poverty, he said that people will “figure out a way not to starve to death” and that there was no need to intervene because “in the end someone will solve” the issue.

As someone that loves going into an office, I wish they let people who didn’t stay at home.

I miss the aspect of the pandemic where people were freer to stay home if they chose, and the roads were so much emptier. It’s better for people to work how they’d like to, it’s better for me trying not to spend an hour commuting, and it’s better for the Earth to have fewer people burning carbon twice a day.

It’s scary how many bad people are hoping that Trump wins, from Putin and Xi and their fellow autocrats (e.g. Orban, Kim). Then there’s BB and his right wing cabinet, as Trump won’t give a fuck how many Palestinians die in the war.

All of American’s billionaires and business interests want the tax write off and general cronyism that he enables. And his far right support groups seem to be regrouping and growing.

If there’s going to be election malfeasance, it could come from a variety of sources, not necessarily the usual suspects.

When everyone left of fascism is in a single party now, there’s bound to be some divisions in people’s actual beliefs within the D party. It’s unsurprising that some Democrats are going to be more moderate in some areas than others, this is what coalition government looks like, and is a healthy part of a working democracy.

It’d be better if we had ranked choice voting nationally, and could allow for smaller parties to win national seats. But short of that future, I don’t mind Fetterman voicing his thoughts and voting party line when it matters.
