Maybe we need to make some space to have conversations about the way that rigid gender expectations can hurt people. I'm not talking about trans people, exclusively (in fact the trans people I know are among the most sophisticated when it comes to processing these kinds of events and emotions)

No, where I see a lot of unprocessed trauma flailing around putting everyone in a bad way is from cis people who have unexamined psychological harm due to their failure to conform to some gender norm. 1/

The time genie will bring back one (1) extinct animal from any time in all of earth's history. The animal will be integrated into an ecosystem seamlessly with no major negative consequences. You get to pick the creature.

Do you feel obligated to pick something like a sauropod just so people can experience the awe?

Do you bring back something more recent to correct the crimes of mankind?

Some academic has written a game studies article critically analyzing the similarities between the architecture of (some kinds of) videogame levels, haunted houses and abattoirs, right?

All three are basically made to provide an illusion that the subject is making their own choices, but in reality they're being funneled along a predecided path made by the architect.

(Illusionist GMing in TTRPGs, too, I suppose.)

Ich habe seit meiner Jugend fast immer nur Jeans getragen, muss aber inzwischen einsehen, daß die für Radtouren nicht ideal sind. Was für Stoffhosen könnt ihr für längere Radtouren insbesondere jetzt im Sommer empfehlen?

Hinweis: Ich bin nicht an Kunststoff-Hosen interessiert!

@juergen_hubert we both wear Fjällraven trousers when bike touring (with padded underwear). Hey have different thicknesses for different weather. But most people will lean towards synthetic materials because they dry much quicker.

    @wdlindsy As a non-American Roman Catholic it can be absolutely wild to communicate with catholics from the USA. But then of course it’s very gracious of them to let us share in this religion which they invented, even if we’re all doing it wrong, including the literal pope.

    In addition to a 17th-century Dutch theologian (Petrus van Mastricht) and the King James bible, one of the authorities cited by Alabama chief justice Parker in his ruling on IVF is the medieval theologian Thomas Aquinas. Parker's ruling cites Aquinas six times.

    As someone with an M.A. and Ph.D. in historical theology — from a Catholic university — I know a little about Aquinas. Here are some salient points:
