Never heard of the site before. What's the backstory?

If you're using something like graphene OS, use gboard and deny it network permissions.

Or use another app like tracker control to deny it internet access.

Isn't that because it was spread by the British in the first place?

At that point, games need to have more frequent encounters without rest to deplete casters' limited resources.

But ultimately I prefer PF2E. I had a blast playing a martial monk taking a variety of actions every round, vs "attack" and "attack again".

I would like to try it, but it only has a Windows Store client.

That sounds like the server side, but what about the client side?

I was hoping to use Chimera, bit with it only supporting AMD GPU's (I'm running an Intel n100) I had to keep looking. Bazzite looks interesting.

uninvitedguest OP ,
@uninvitedguest@lemmy.ca avatar

Thanks for the Fedora nod. I'm looking in to Bazzite. For Intel transcoding on the server I had to install the non-free firmware, and will probably have to do the same.

I'm happy for them. Immich, along with Nextcloud, was the driving force behind my getting in to self hosting - getting away from the ridiculous and increasing subscription prices associated with keeping family photos and documents.

It has come an incredibly long way in the time I've been using it. I've kicked them a donation or two, a first for me with OSS, because it continued to provide so much value for me.

I had read earlier that Alex was hoping to transition to working on this full time and I am happy he has been able to see that realized in - what appears to be - a positive manner.

What does astigmatism have to do with using a dark theme?

uninvitedguest ,
@uninvitedguest@lemmy.ca avatar

Interesting, my near sightedness is the result of astigmatism but this is the first I've heard of any issues related to brightness.

Why did it take so long to get this implemented during Biden's term? Why are we only seeing this just before the next election. I ask as an outsider to the states.

How do you know if a book you pirated is complete/original/full etc ?

I downloaded a certain epub from Anna's archive but as i have never read it before and i don't know if it is a bad/incomplete copy or the real thing . I don't think I'm allowed to say which book it is but do feel free to correct me and i'll edit it in . So how do you solve this issue ? Like if it was a movie or tv episode i can...

Because they're not memes. I had a heck of a time explaining to my partner that a picture with text on it does not constitute a meme - the same picture used repeatedly with different text captions? Meme.

It did not compute.

uninvitedguest ,

Your last two sentences is how I would describe it.

It's text on pictures until it ascends to meme-hood.

After having been burned on crappy software support on rockchip devices, I think this will take over for my TV box.

uninvitedguest ,
@uninvitedguest@lemmy.ca avatar

I run Armbian on my Radxa devices! A huge life saver.

I use a Rock 5B with an Android TV image for my TV box, but it is janky at best. I'd run an Armbian desktop release of I could, but HDMI is broken on all of them.

I sympathize with the dissatisfaction with container and service naming schemes - it does get annoying when you take an overall look at all the containers and services running and things get muddy. In Immich, I renamed my services and containers for overall clarity. But why mess with ports?

uninvitedguest ,

I'm curious about this one. I'm running a Radxa Rock 5B with an android TV ROM, but it is a janky experience at best. That has been the main difficult with Radxa's line of rockchip based SBCs - the software support is lacking. How is the software support for the N2+, and when did it release?

Looking for a reverse proxy to put any service behind a login for external access.

I host a few docker containers and use nginx proxy manager to access them externally since I like to have access away from home. Most of them have some sort of login system but there are a few examples where there isn't so I currently don't publicly expose them. I would ideally like to be able to use totp for this as well.

How does this work for you when using an app (E.g. Nextcloud, home assistant, etc) where log in isn't handled by a browser that can redirect, but instead expects username and password credentials entered in-app?

Looking for Cloud Storage Replacement, but I don't like NextCloud

I'm looking for something to replace cloud storage for myself and family. I've tried to use/like NextCloud but honestly I despise it. The UI/UX really bothers me, and administering it is a pain. It also just does way more that I want or need....

When a school professor "prompts" you to write an essay and you, the "tool" go consume copyrighted material and plagiarize it in the production of your essay is the infringement made by the professor?

uninvitedguest ,

It definitely does not cite sources and use it's own words in all cases - especially in visual media generation.

And in the proposed scenario I did write the student plagiarizes the copyrighted material.

Proxmox Host Terrible Upload Network Speeds

I've had fun building a plucky little homelab on Proxmox 8.1.4 running kernel 6.5.13-1-pve. I have incorporated a bunch of small not for profit corporations, and you raise some good points.

  1. Registration federally is much less complicated than registering provincially, for a number of reasons (legislation to follow, filings, expanding business operations across the country, pursuing status as a charity, etc). I would recommend registering a not for profit federally every time (even if it was the smallest organization operating in one tiny corner of a single province).
  2. To my knowledge, Canadian/Canada is not a protected term (when registering federally). I have registered a few not for profits with Canada in the name. The organizations did have a Canada-wide scope.
uninvitedguest ,
@uninvitedguest@lemmy.ca avatar

This post says it is an update, but searching through c/main I'm not seeing anything that looks like it laid the groundwork for this. Consequently, I feel like I'm missing information.

  1. What is the goal/purpose of the not for profit business registration?
  2. Is status as a registered charity being considered/pursued?
  3. As another poster asked, why is this being registered provincially instead of federally (I strongly recommend registering federally unless there is some hidden benefit for registering in BC).
  4. What is the board/governance structure being proposed?
  5. Are bylaws being drafted at this stage, or are default bylaws (not sure if BC has those, federally NFP's do) being applied?
uninvitedguest ,
@uninvitedguest@lemmy.ca avatar

Oof, point taken. Luckily that hasn't been among my experiences!
