Holy crap. Playing soccer (football) in the middle of a lightning storm seems very bad indeed. Wondering about all the fans safety as well…

That’s what I was hoping. Did you see it? There was water streaming off of the corners of the roof, like a waterfall.

Wheedle On The Needle
by Stephen Cosgrove; illustrated by Robin James
Deep in the woods of the Pacific Northwest lives a quiet old creature named the Wheedle. When humans move into his forests, bringing their loud city noises, Wheedle flees to the rocky peaks of Mount Rainier, and then to the very tip-top of Seattle’s Space Needle.

Smoke detectors going off for an hour. Fire department figured out one had gone bad, setting off the whole series. Spent most of the time opening windows and trying to get the cat out from under the couch unsuccessfully.

I’m sure my heart rate and hearing will go back to normal sometime next week.

Milli sitting in the north window, looking at something as usual. She made her way to the corner of the patio window and started making noises, so I peeked. A cat sitting by the table.

Didn’t realize until I checked the camera trap: it was not the neighbor’s tuxedo cat. I’m guessing not or there’d have been more drama. Whoever this new cat is, it jumped up onto the table to check out the catnip plant and probably got wet in the dish for the pitcher plants.

Video: A black and white cat walks under the patio table looking for a way to get up. After jumping, the cat sits at the edge of the table and some water drips down onto the patio. The cat is more muscular than the neighbor’s cat, who also has much more white fur.

I love the incredible, flighty lightness of birds--watching them light on blades of grass and scarcely bend them or bob on a branch in the wind and never stir because they are like a molecule of the wind itself. This little song sparrow was walking on the surface of a pond without even dimpling the duckweed, even on takeoff.

I felt ill last night at bedtime, like that feverish feeling under your skin. I hoped it was just being overtired and overheated for days.
