The prosecutors are vetting the jurors carefully.

I am not Dooming. Not yet.

Can we wait for the trial to be in full swing before predicting the worst possible outcome? Or do people thrive on constant pessimism? I just don't.

Then I thought about people dealing with the never ending news cycle and social feeds.

🤦🏻‍♀️Prosecutors on Tuesday announced an agreement with #Texas Attorney General Ken #Paxton that would ultimately dismiss securities fraud charges he has been facing for nearly a decade.

Under the 18-mo pre-trial agreement, special prosecutors in the case would drop 3 felony counts against Paxton. As part of the deal, Paxton must pay full restitution to victims — roughly $300K — & must also complete 100 hours of community service and 15 hours of legal ethics educ.”

👀 Supreme Court on Monday temporarily froze enforcement of #Texas’ controversial immigration law that allows state law enforcement to arrest and detain people they suspect of entering the country illegally.

Alito issued the hold, which will block law from taking effect until March 13. That temp pause will give court additional time to review the case but does not neces signal which way court is leaning. (Alito oversees the fed circuit that handled the case.)

The many negative replies are not a good thing.
I must admit, I have made some on ocasion.

I realized this while drafting a comment to @Teri_Kanefield about one of her thoughtful blog entries.

Then I read aloud to my wife what I wrote.

She said: Teri spent all that time writing a post you enjoyed & learned from & that's all you're going to say about it? To tell her your mother corrected your grammar?

She had a good point. I completely changed the reply & felt much better about it.

With this medium, there is an opportunity.

Unlike an interactive, in person conversation, we have the opportunity to take a moment & breathe & reflect on what we are saying.

Sometimes just rereading the portion of the original post I'm commenting on & then reading my comments does the trick.

Then I go back & put something at the beginning about the posters perspective that I connected with (there is almost always something).

It helps me pull the cartridge out of my flamethrower 😉

    The worst part was Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson didn’t get the clause and CO atty explained it.

    The clause pertains to all officers (which it doesn’t have to name them because Pres & VP are officers) then adds Senators, Congress and Electors for Pres & VP which are NOT officers, they are referred to as seats in the constitution.

    She was so focused on their being ambiguity and getting him to admit it, she missed his textualist answer to her question.

    This isn’t what we need right now.

    I'm amazed at how many of you seem to know what's going to happen with SCOTUS/Trump. You must all be clairvoyant.

    I don't do speculation as a rule, it seems meaningless. I prefer to wait and see.

    I do, however, share observations of those who have legal backgrounds because I find them interesting and more knowledgeable than most.

    But I don't think they know what's going to happen either.

    One thing I do know: We got a good ruling today. I'm savoring that for awhile.
