@GottaLaff Just a note too...the right win lopsided side of the court seems to relish in what they think is their absolute power; just personally, any concessions to put Trump back in office, he basically relegates them to ...meh, who cares status as he'll defy anything he doesn't like, so their power goes away...don't think Alito and others will easily give up their power. But again, it's all speculation and I'm sure you get tired of everyone saying what WILL happen. No one knows. Period.
@GottaLaff I don’t think scotus will hear the case and it’s going to let the lower court’s ruling stand. That way the Qpublicans can get rid of trump because they know he is unelectable and they can defer the blame. Haley is scary
@GottaLaff
I don't know what will happen in the future (if I did, I would do a lot of gambling), but since I believe this place is run by a trickster god, I'm pretty sure it will be close enough to what I fear, to unsettle me, but close enough to what I hope, to keep me hoping
@GottaLaff@cindyweinstein I use to be a Trump supporter actually for a long period of time mostly because my dad is Republican and while he didn’t agree with a lot of what Trump was doing, he thought it was right to stick with Republican values as a whole even if he could see the Republican Party he joined in the 90’s wasn’t the same as it is today, and I was only a Trump supporter because I didn’t know any better. Point is, seeing him get this ruling is one step closer to seeing him get what he deserves for committing nothing short of treason against the United States.
@GottaLaff There are three justices who are knee-jerk conservatives, yet also really stubborn and academic about the law. I wouldn't bet a dollar on any outcome.
The problem is that the ruling will not matter fellow citizen Laffy.
As we all know what is right.
If Trump is suddenly declared above the law, he will become King.
And an extremely vengeful one.

@GottaLaff
Yes, I like to hear what the possibilities and odds are on those possibilities from knowledgeable people, but I realize those are speculative opinions and treat them accordingly.
Gotta agree with Laffy here. Can we please ease up on the doomification of everything. These are complex and difficult times. We would do much better by staying informed and engaged, but resisting the urge to whine and moan about everything. Complaining is not conversation. Fatalism is not realism.
Where this stuff comes from is the insidious thing. The perspective that everything is unfair and will go wrong in the end, creates permission to disengage, because nothing matters anyway. That can become self fulfilling. If these folks could snap out of it for a minute, they might see that a bunch of good stuff has been happening recently. The tide has turned. Time to press for advantage. All hands on deck.
@GottaLaff@mastodonmigration This person is clearly either a) not well or b) trolling. Could be C) Both, I guess.
I encountered them for the first time earlier today and blocked without any hesitation. I don't know what they think they're accomplishing, but that doesn't even really matter bc I don't have to subject myself to it regardless.
@GottaLaff I can’t wait to hear Ketanji’s voice and her absolutely cut through the crap questions & hypotheticals. She’s amazing. I enjoy listening to her as much as I have Kagan & Sotomayor (& Breyer)
I predict it will be worth listening to the arguments.
@GottaLaff I tend to agree, but in this case, the idea that the SCOTUS will rule that Biden is above the law? And with tre45ons' track record in court so far... they are not going to hear the case. It's a pretty safe bet.
@bhawthorne Exactly. And @Jon_Kramer, polls are not reliable at this stage. At all. They're snapshots at a time when most aren't even paying attention.
What math are you trusting?
Why speculate based on ... polls??
Ugh, I need to step away. This is too frustrating.
Let's say you flip a coin 100 times, and every time it comes up heads. Before that 101st flip, what is your bet on the outcome?
Bet the bank on "heads." Because that isn't a fair coin. It has a bias.
Tre45on has flipped his coins in the courts for years now, and loses every time. He arguments are BAD. His next argument will be as bad. It's who he is. He can't change.
@Jon_Kramer You said "I listen to polls, too. I trust the math. Ya, it's speculation, but this is pretty firm" That's not "entertaining," that's believing. That's "trusting." That's "firm." So you're contradicting yourself. And it makes zero sense. @bhawthorne
@GottaLaff 100% agree with you here. The only opinions that matter right now are those of the SC justices, and anyone who thinks they know what those are is likely projecting their own biases upon them. I've got my fingers crossed that this turns out the legally correct way, but there's always an outside chance it doesn't. For now, we've got a solid win that preserves the rule of law, and for that we should all be thankful.
@GottaLaff It would be great if they just handed out "The Doomiest Doomsayer 2024" Award now so everyone can stop trying to get the hardware for themselves. 🏆
