Good for New Jersey and for Andy Kim on his winning the New Jersey US Senate primary.

I'd read about Kim in 2018 and was impressed. He unseated one of the architects of the failed Paul Ryan plan to repeal the ACA.

In the middle of the night after Jan. 6, Kim cleaned up garbage from insurrectionists at the US Capitol. He was acting alone, doing his part. I hope he wins in November.

Possibly, but we won't know that since Israel does not wait for attacks to happen. With Western weapons they have always attacked first.

Jews and Muslims lived in peace in the region until the forced injection of the masses of Jews into the land in a secular ideology called Zionism. Since then the theft of home and property has been devastating to the Palestinian locals. Despite what you would do in such circumstances, the way forward is for the two peoples to work together towards a two state solution. That means going back to the previously agreed upon borders.

You're talking about a war of religion.
How many in Israel's govt are truly religious and not pretending? I'd say there's hateful people on both sides, and some prioritize their hate first on race and then religion. An objective view would tell you that one religion isn't better than another (any religion) and both can be weaponized for genocide and to commit human vices.

When I bought this titanium teapot as a gift to myself for finding a new job years ago I really felt bad about how much it cost— but I’ve decided it’s, in a way the ideal sort of expensive treat: absurdly durable, timeless, utilitarian, strange.

This one is going in my will. I hope someone takes it with them to space someday. (that is my new heirloom benchmark: how likely is this to be in the 1 ton allowance for those moving to the dyson swarm never to set foot on earth again?)

I doubt it's coming back unless there's a government overhaul given Israels tight "Israel is endowed" narrative. This narrative facilitates the dehumanization of Palestinians and perpetuates "us vs them". A challenge to this narrative will bring down that facade.

Today in Labor History May 4, 1970: Ohio National Guards murdered four students at Kent State University. They also injured nine others, including one who was permanently paralyzed. During the massacre, they fired 67 rounds in 13 seconds at the unarmed crowd. The students were protesting the U.S. invasion of Cambodia. With the current wave of student protests against the Israeli genocide in Gaza, the government’s response is looking sickeningly similar to its response to student protests in the early 70s: Violent repression, use of chemical agents, snipers on rooftops. If the vitriolic rhetoric of politicians and pundits continues, another student massacre seems imminent.

Horrifying news from Ukraine: According to Ukraine Army Commander Oleksandr Syrsky, Russia has broken through the frontline at Novobakhmutivka in the Donetsk oblast.

You can see the progress on these screenshots from DeepStateMap. First picture is April 10. Second picture is yesterday.

Syrsky mentions lack of equipment as one of the reasons, Ukraine is now retreating.

Mike Johnson truly deserves a Hero of Russia medal.

But why aren't we at least as worried about the U.S. billionaires who own the other apps stealing our data and trying to manipulate us?
