I’m alone at:

There’s some activity over at !cfb. During college football season it should be busy enough there.

If you combine all of the various dad-based groups (there’s several), the activity is somewhat there as well.

orangeNgreen ,
@orangeNgreen@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah. I think most of them have inactive mods, which makes it tough. But having 5+ dad groups probably isn’t conducive to engagement at this stage.

I can do that. Should be able to put that together later today.

Edit: done.

A lot of the communities I miss from Reddit exist here already, but they are mostly dead. Daddit; parenting; communities for my favorite sports teams; the community for my current city….

The news, general discussion, and memes are all here. But the really niche stuff that I used to enjoy discussing with strangers are all gone.

orangeNgreen ,
@orangeNgreen@lemmy.world avatar

True. I guess I enjoy giving/getting advice. Parenting is hard and, as they say, “it takes a village”!

Having a short work week is nice. But, man, if I’m not ready for a vacation. 3 weeks to get through.

orangeNgreen ,
@orangeNgreen@lemmy.world avatar

I’m technically offered 10 days. I’m lucky if I use 6 or 7…

orangeNgreen ,
@orangeNgreen@lemmy.world avatar

No, I think my supervisor would approve as many days as I want as long as I also get all of my work done. There’s always just too much work to do, it seems.

He’s…. Passionate. I have no ill will toward him, but I also don’t watch much of him.

You're probably better off not interacting with the content that you're reporting.

I’ll second this. Responding to the problematic content usually just leads to a lot more problematic content that the mods need to sort through.

orangeNgreen ,
@orangeNgreen@lemmy.world avatar

For sure. Responding is the natural thing to do. But, for me at least, I end up reading every response and deciding if I’m safe to just remove the first reported comment, or every child comment, or a mix.

Maybe some mods just delete the parent comment and all children to keep it simple, but I try to weigh each response fairly.

I think !casualconversation is high up on the list. Pretty good activity there.

Are you thinking about a sequel to Kodar?

orangeNgreen Mod ,
@orangeNgreen@lemmy.world avatar

I never quite thought about how much time goes into things other than filming.

Just wanted to chime in again to say thanks for taking the time to answer some questions!

I’m a month and a half away from a vacation. Eye on the prize.

orangeNgreen Mod ,

Not bad. Usual work stuff. But I’ve also entered a conceptualization phase of possibly starting my own business. I just had a logo made, and I’m digging it.

There’s virtually no sex or violence in Ms. Rachel, which is about the only show that hits my TV by request of my toddler.

@orangeNgreen@lemmy.world avatar

It’s still being developed. There’s been a lot of activity for Mlem on Github.

U.S. Measles Cases Surpass 2023 Levels, C.D.C. Says ( www.nytimes.com )

Many cases reported in the United States this year were linked to international travel, according to the C.D.C., as travel destinations such as Britain, Austria and the Philippines have had outbreaks. Many of the people in the United States who have been infected have been unvaccinated children age 12 months and older.

For what it’s worth, babies under 12 months are not typically given the measles vaccine. We specifically asked our doctor if we could get our 9 month old vaccinated early in light of the outbreak. They wouldn’t do it.

I don’t visit Reddit much anymore, but isn’t that the way ads have been for awhile over there?

Frequently stare toward the camera and smirk.

For me, it’s just a complete change to my exercise routine. In my 20s, with no kids, I was running about 5k (3 miles or so) most days, with some weight lifting mixed in. These days, with a full time job, two young kids, and two dogs, plus all of the other responsibilities that seem to come with adulthood, I’m lucky to squeeze in a 15 minute bike ride here and there.

Even with all that, I try my best to eat as healthily as possible. Over the last 5 years I’ve gained about 8 pounds, which could be worse all things considered.

I’d name my volleyball Wallyball, but otherwise I’d be likely to follow the survival guide established by Tom Hanks.

Beware – Sleeping Too Little Increases Your Risk of Diabetes ( scitechdaily.com )

This cohort study analyzing data from 247 867 adults in the UK Biobank found that individuals sleeping less than 6 hours daily had a notably higher risk of developing T2D compared with those with 7 to 8 hours of sleep. Despite the association between healthier diets and reduced T2D risk, the increased risk associated with...

My kids seem pretty intent on increasing my risk for diabetes, then.
