@GottaLaff I said it elsewhere, but I expect him to spin up a new company (incorporated in TX, of course) to offer charging. Naturally $TSLA will license the rights and existing superchargers to this new company for what the Chief Fascist Officer insists will be a fair price.

I suspect I'll know whether I'm right or not in about 3 months.

So I'm frazzled and anxious because of work and world and some shows, so here's another cached US Kindle giveaway: 10 copies of @naominovik's A Deadly Education (The Scholomance Book 1), which is a great book, and the first in an even greater trilogy. I can't believe I didn't realize the particular classic that was being retold from this book -- in retrospect it is super obvious. If you haven't read this book, you should; if you have, you should find someone who hasn't and tell them.

Parenthetically: I have been reading breathless pieces arguing that quantum computing would make existing cryptographic techniques obsolete for 20-30 years now, and the next quantum computer to come along that can run Shor's Algorithm usefully will be the first. (I do not consider factoring the number 35 on a multimillion dollar experimental device like IBM Q System One to be "useful".)

@GottaLaff @andymoose Except it’s not just Canon. He doesn’t have to pay $450M because… well, just because. He doesn’t even have to pay the $150M or so, it seems. (It’s not really a deadline if you’re given another 10 days to say why, and then another 10 days after that to do something, and another 10 days after that…)

It’s not just him, of course. There’s also Paxton in TX.

The clearly-apparent dual legal system here is… wrong, and not changing.

@GottaLaff It's not new to me, but it mostly only works large-scale. Note that, in general, you're going to need to run a turbine -- so while it may be very efficient at thermal storage, it's not going to be over-all as efficient as PV + electric batteries.

But if your city is in or near a desert, you've got an equivalent to hydropower.

I suspect you've seen articles about using molten salt as a battery; it's the same thing.

Since then, enforcers have filed major antitrust suits against Facebook, Amazon, Google, and now Apple.

Antitrust is back in a very big way — and that's a good thing.
