Who are those 50.000 that went from green party to afd? What kind of reason could there possibly be for that?

Also interesting how it's the same as in the us where the answer to "how's the country doing economically" vastly depends on your news sources since only a very low amount of people in Germany are out of work, the Dax is hitting multiple records in recent months, the economy is growing, inflation is going down and the unions are achieving raises above the inflation level

But for some reason all you hear about is the food prizes which actually didn't increase that much compared to the normal shrinkflation. Or everyone was portraying how there would be disastrous power outages after the switch off of the atomic generators but nothing like that happened. Or how Germany had the lowest inflation amongst most European countries despite having the biggest dependency on russian gas because the political decisions made where actually really on point.

But for some reason nothing of this is reaching AFD voters so they keep ignorant and think the economy is failing.

Kind of similar to how regions with the fewest migrants are the most racist since the media has full control over the scare tactics targeted at them without any reality interfering

hannes3120 ,

I would imagine those would go vote for the Bündnis Sarah Zarenknecht instead

hannes3120 ,

If you can rank your votes and have multiple options available you actually have to stand for something in order for people to vote for you.

Being against another party is not enough in such a system since there are more options available.

The Bavarian area of Germany?

Hitler was Austrian and at least in Germany people use this saying with Italian Mussolini style fascism or even just German

I know it started in Munich but calling it Bavarian in origin is a bit unusual

hannes3120 ,

The problem is that newspapers were kind of the only means to get the news in a concentrated form - now they are obsolete since everyone gets their news pretty much live and when the newspaper would be out the next morning it's already old

hannes3120 ,

After years of not being successful with the hunter biden story trumpists are probably celebrating with how easy it is to turn people away from biden by just throwing shit about the Israel war at him to make it look as if he's somehow responsible for it...

hannes3120 ,

No of course not - some are just falling for the Republican plants

hannes3120 ,

Yeah a lot of the anti biden posts feel orchestrated to discourage people from voting similarly how it worked for trump against Clinton

hannes3120 ,

I think the problem he's referring to is that some people are naming every small racist prick a nazi and that that devalues the meaning of the word.

Kind of how comparisons with the holocaust are very strictly regulated in Germany in order to not shift the Goalpoast.

hannes3120 ,

While also complaining about the boat going slower under democrat leadership as they had to stop rowing to fix the hole

hannes3120 ,

Kind of oversimplified when railways and public transport is grouped under infrastructure when it could as well be in the climate protection category

hannes3120 ,

I just wanted to make clear that if someone were to read this with malicious intentions to discredit this as not doing much for the climate at all that it's not as easy as just looking at this simplified pie-chart

hannes3120 ,

Yeah

"Genocide Joe" seems like the perfect republican plot to make people abstain from voting because the deliberately leave out how Trump would make matters 100 times worse.

Biden is constantly challenging Netanyahu while Trump would deliberately hand them a full and permanent occupation of Palestine on a silver plate.

People already forgot that it was trump who moved the embassy to Jerusalem basically destroying the USAs support for a two state solution?

hannes3120 ,

Centrists are just right wing but too embarrassed to admit to it.

hannes3120 ,

SEO is wrong - it's like an arms race where the shittiest party spending the most wins and every one else needs to play by the rules to even exist.

The world would be better off if noone did it in the first place and search engines could just do the job they intended to do.

Google totally went to shit in the last years with their first page often full of websites great at SEO but horrible in whatever you were actually looking for.

Meanwhile the little ultra-specific forum that had a thread years ago about your specific search and no money for SEO is somewhere on page 5 while websites just repeating the search phrase over and over with no answer in sight are at the top.

That whole industry can cease to exist from one day to the next and nothing of value would be lost - if anything value would be gained for the average person

hannes3120 ,

How is this even a discussion at a company like Volkswagen?

At their headquarters in Wolfsburg 99% of their workers are members of the union and the union's chairmen are famous for being the most powerful amongst all companies in Germany.

Are they participating in union busting bullshit despite a background like that?

hannes3120 ,

Twitter is showing me that no matter how big and relevant a network is the big companies care more about not advertising next to Nazis than about advertising in a popular space.

I'm hopeful that it'll stay that way and the only ones advertising there will be those that are already supporting trump and that it'll only cost them money by people boycotting their products.

Even if he wins the presidency he's for sure not winning the popular vote and also for sure not winning the reasons most interesting for advertisers. Not sure that bet is going to hold up well in the end

hannes3120 ,

Twitter also has a very large captive audience - yet their advertisers are running away

hannes3120 ,

Cheaper in the long run perhaps - but how expensive is it to build?

Atomic energy is only "cheap" since the cost for the power plants is heavily paid for by tax money. For the cost of one power station you could cover a huge amount of land with solar panels.

hannes3120 ,

I'm pretty sure at least half of the people moving the Goalpoast are not leftists but people intending to discourage left wing voters from voting by making biden look bad

Or just russian trolls

hannes3120 ,

Every serious car manufacturer has a backup power source in case something happens (there can always be a bad storm or an accident)

The fact that one burning mast was enough to completely shut down the Tesla factory in Germany just shows how much of their success is just ignoring very realistic risks and then pointing fingers at someone else if stuff happens

hannes3120 ,

Aren't libertarians all about having almost no taxes?

I don't seem to understand how that point would hurt them much

hannes3120 ,

The text mentions them supporting the "don't buy from Jews"-BDS movement

Sounds very weird for a Jewish organisation indeed

hannes3120 ,

Then what's the alternative?

hannes3120 ,

I don't understand the reason for #3 - could you explain?

The rest are great - number one is my personal favourite, too, since it would either result in much more money for the government to invest or (if the tax income stays the same) much lower taxes for most people

Biden vows to reopen Baltimore port, rebuild collapsed Key Bridge ( thehill.com )

President Biden vowed Tuesday to rebuild Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge after it collapsed into the water when a cargo ship rammed into it, echoing what some Maryland officials said earlier but adding that he expects the federal government to foot the bill....

hannes3120 ,

The company will pay eventually - it's mostly about making the money available as soon as possible before the legal responsibilities are cleared up

As a German I'm proud of our constitution, too, and I think it does a great job at making it as hard as possible for something like the Nazis to easily happen again.

That doesn't mean that it was perfect all the time and is unchangeable.

I think it's insane how the US things their constitution is the pinnacle of democracy - especially since it was the first one and others iterated on our

In some European countries the police isn't even armed since noone has guns

hannes3120 ,

Steam is just perfect at keeping the gamers behind them as they are only assholes behind doors to the Devs on their platform.

30% is an absurd cut for a store that has such a monopoly that if you don't release there your game is pretty much cancelled even if you release at your own store without DRM and with additional goodies (Looking at GOG and The Witcher - they released the Gwent standalone like a year later on steam because it didn't sell at all on GOG and then it apparently outsold the GOG version without a week)

People are just too lazy and Steam is keeping them happy enough to not bother looking another way.

Epic isn't a good guy in any case but the exclusive deals on AAA Games they do is probably the only way to get someone to buy the game there instead of Steam

hannes3120 ,

Yeah

Israel had every right to defend themselves against the Hamas but what he and his far right ministers are doing and saying is making it really hard to support them and believe that it's really only an attempt to eradicate Hamas and not also about expanding Israel as they do in the Westbank for years.

They are really making it almost impossible to support the legitimate cause of rescuing hostages and security their population from Hamas and are actively fuelling antisemitism through the anti-zionism they provoke

hannes3120 ,

You know how many people in Germany that weren't died because of the bombings?

If your government starts a war you have to pay the price.

Why is noone calling Hamas to surrender?

Sure Israel is definitely able to be more careful and their right wing ministers are only adding fuel - but that doesn't really change their right to defend themselves (and Hamas is still attacking them each day)

That whole situation is a total clusterfuck and I really wish Israel would get rid of netanyahu and vote for someone that's interested in a long term solution that's including Palestine.

hannes3120 ,

I think they actually do understand but don't have enough empathy with other people to see it as their responsibility to protect other people from their viruses.

Not that someone as perfect as them would ever sick enough to potentially infect others...

Vivaldi is the best!

Currently trying out Floorp as a Firefox fork for the possibility that Google's disabling of adblockers in the manifest will make it impossible to use chromium browsers which is kind of good, too

But Vivaldi rules as long as chromium is an option!

hannes3120 ,

I get updates every other week

but I think it's in a weird spot with not having regular English patchnotes - and afaik they also use an older rendering-engine

hannes3120 ,

The longer Biden enables Netanyahu, the more his presidency is at risk | Mohamad Bazzi ( www.theguardian.com )

Biden, a supposed foreign policy pragmatist, doesn’t seem bothered that the US is one of the few states that continues to wholeheartedly sustain Israel’s war on Gaza. In fact, Biden has staked his political future on his support for Netanyahu and Israel – and Biden is losing. In this year’s presidential election, where...

hannes3120 ,

Yeah he basically put fire to the conflict with the embassy decision basically confirming that he sees the two state solution as dead while playing in netanyahus hands...

hannes3120 ,

So OP is a professional anti Israel poster?

How can you have so many posts and comments let day all only going about the same thing?

Kind of smells like russian troll farm sowing dissent (not saying it is)

I agree that Israel should slow down and enable more support but Hamas started this and could always stop during rockets and release the hostages they took to end it in a day.

Both parties in this war are absolutely horrible but for some reason no one tries to tell Hamas to stop being assholes

hannes3120 ,

Did I say I was okay with what Isreal is doing? I just asked people to look into the source.

On average more than 1 post per day and almost 2 comments per hour and ALL of them either Anti-Israel or anti-Biden really seems as if you are having an agenda.

Not saying that this specific post is wrong - just that the amount of posts is probably inflated for one side because of people like you.

And for the admins:
how can my comment be removed for breaking rule 5 which I'd have guessed only applies to account-bans as it's about voting based on quality not agreement when I didn't even downvote OPs post or comments and only asked a simple question in well-mannered language?

hannes3120 ,

@admins I think @Linkerbaan might have downvoted my comment because he disagreed with me and not because the comment was necessary bad quality which would break the same rule that resulted in my comment being deleted before

hannes3120 ,

I think it's right to try and stop the war and also right to try and replace the Israel government so Netanyahu can finally face the justice he's running from for years.

Hopefully there will be a good solution including a Palestinian state in the end - but with both Hamas and some of the far-right ministers in Netanyahus cabinet both claiming all of Israel for them that's not happening.

At least inside Israel it seems unlikely people will vote for him again and democratic change there is possible - as for Hamas I really don't see how they will ever give up bombing Israel and doing monstrosities as the one that started this whole mess.

It's horrible how the Palestinian people have to suffer both from Hamas and from Israel but painting Israel as the absolute evil is not helping anyone

hannes3120 ,

And that one third is showing up to vote while the 2 thirds are not sure because biden is too old and then go surprised Pikachu when the crazy ones run the country

hannes3120 ,

Also dann Mexican standoff weil keiner miteinander kann?

hannes3120 ,

Does he have a problem with everyone from that part of the world?

Hint: the secret is racism

hannes3120 ,
