Another all too barren spring in NYC. There should be so many insects, so many ants, so many tiny creatures filling the parks, hitting the windshields of cars.

Remember when bugs used to hit the windshields of cars because the air was so full of life?

I guess most people think this is 'improvement' but they are wrong. There is a campaign to put the American bumblebee on the endangered species list!

We are living in an eerie lifeless netherworld and I don't know why more can't see it!

Diversify feed stocks.
Accept moderate crop/quality losses.
Rotate and de-monoculture.
Ban nicotinamide classes of pesticides.
Let some clover into your lawn.
Tax/ban/fine golf courses that run-off into waterways.

While the US military aid has flatlined, and Olaf Scholz will not send Taurus missiles, Russia has just dropped one of the first ODAB-1500 thermobaric bombs.

Thermobaric weapons spread a cloud of flammable liquid and then ignites the cloud, creating a deadly blast followed by a lethal vacuum which rupture the lungs on humans.

Does anyone think Putin is worried about this being an escalation?

Stop talking. Give Ukraine every thinkable weapon, so they can defeat the evil before it spreads.

It's a great feat to be sure. Also I understand why they started with kidneys.
I didn't think about inactivating porcine endogenous retroviruses, but it makes sense that they exist and would be a bigger problem for a patient who is heavily immunosuppressed with e.g. tacrolimus for transplant.

Despite all that understanding, I'm still somehow underwhelmed that it's a kidney

I used to lead an BSA troop in West Philly.
At the height of the troop we got a grant to hike the famous sprawling ranch in NM.
We were poorly prepared for the Rockies. All day, every day all-women Venture troops would pass us up and downhill.
At the fire one evening the boys were talking about the girls with modest teenage disrespect.
I interjected, "fine, but they're out here with you, doing everything you do. Just seems unfair they can't earn the same awards"
