This company failed after operating for two whole years. But the fact it was ever able to get funding and exist, that proves the system is rotten all the way through.
@FuchsiaShock I was holding out hope it was a provocative if a bit tasteless art project— the kind of art that embodies what it seeks to criticize too well— everyone should feel shame to know this was real. (and remains real in many parts of the world… sans app and fancy dispenser, Nestle.)

So, they started renting out the sidewalk (without asking) and were upset that the DOT made them stop rather than let it go on while they tried to work out what regulations applied? Why can't I put up warm pop tents for unhoused people and not charge for them?
They might have a case if they set this up for free— as a convenience for customers. But— this is that whole “just take it and see if anyone stops you, if they do cry 😢 “

@phooky@futurebird@FuchsiaShock I can't begin to describe the fire with which I f**king hate the Barely Convenient™️ bullsh*t that is almost every single VC-founded product in the past two decades.
I work in the startup space & I'm telling you, the true unicorn is "business based on an idea about actually solving an actual problem, rather than just finding the flimsiest possible excuse for getting people to sign up to some sort of subscription".
