They are still on The (Vargr) Great Hunt. Next stop is collecting rare plants on a swampy, xeno-alligator infested planet.

What are some interesting events or encounters I can throw at them to keep them on their toes?

@deinol Make a random encounter chart with dinosaurs, large reptiles, giant frogs and the like. Roll often and don't forget that the noise of combat can attract more baddies. 😁

    I've always enjoyed this art from the AD& 2nd Edition Dungeon Master's Guide by David Doorman.

    The way he portrayed the fallen warrior's companions, one looking down with concern and the other holding his hand to comfort him is quite touching.

    Players were divided between forcing the opening flashforward scene to happen once the adventure caught up, or thwarting it. It happened, and it led to a glorious train explosion before a daring escape in a highjacked Zeppelin. :ablobcatrainbow: :d20:

    Reading about Fighting Fantasy and learned that it too had a "Satanic Panic" associated with it. For some reason, I always equated the moral panics surrounding role-playing games primarily with America, so that was interesting to read. Also, I never got any cool powers after reading books, so I must have chosen the wrong game...

    Not everybody liked the books. Livingstone recalls: "The Evangelical Alliance published an eight-page warning guide saying, because children were interacting with ghouls and demons, they would be interacting with the devil. One housewife phoned her radio station and said her son levitated having read one of my books. A vicar also threatened to tie himself to the gates at Penguin Books until Fighting Fantasy was banned."

    If dragons and hydras were lacking in challenge, dracohydras were there for cocky adventurers, but were most likely to devour unwitting adventurers after scorching them with their many-headed dragon breaths.

    what the hell is with this trend of calling clearly expensive hipster pubs "dive bars"? if you invited me out to a "dive bar" for a burger & drink and we rolled up to a place with a menu [and prices] like this, we may not be friends anymore [even if you're paying].
