“DAVID LAMMY’S BIG IDEA: NOTHING WILL CHANGE UNDER LABOUR: The man who wants to be foreign secretary is reassuring elite audiences that UK foreign policy will not seriously change under a Keir Starmer government - a strategy confirmed in Labour’s election manifesto.”

by Mark Curtis in Declassified UK @Declassified_UK

@palestine @israel

“Why are Lammy and Labour so supportive of Israel, despite the extent of its atrocities and British public opposition to the attacks on Gaza?

One reason is that Lammy is Washington’s man in Labour and cannot be seen to upset policy-makers in the US who consistently facilitate Israel’s onslaught on Palestinians.

Lammy has constantly signalled that Labour foreign policy under his leadership will deviate little from Washington’s priorities, and he has been a regular visitor to a string of elite, establishment fora in the US.

The other reason is that Lammy is, like 20 percent of his fellow Labour MPs, a recipient of funds from the Israel lobby. Since becoming an MP in 2000, he has accepted donations from the Israel lobby on numerous occasions, the value amounting to £32,550, Declassified has found.”

'Happy Holidays': Right-wing Israeli Journalists Celebrate Rafah Attack, Likening It to Lag Ba'Omer Bonfire

"Two right-wing journalists reacted to the death of scores of Palestinians killed in Gaza on Sunday night by making a joke likening footage of the fires caused by the Israeli airstrike that killed them to the traditional bonfires lit on the Jewish holiday of Lag Ba'Omer, which also took place Sunday night.

Journalist Yinon Magal – who hosts the popular panel show The Patriots on Israel's pro-government news outlet Channel 14 – and news columnist and frequent Channel 12 panelist, Naveh Dromi, tweeted two versions of the same reaction to the unfolding tragedy in Rafah to their social media accounts. Magal posted a video of fires blazing in Rafah as emergency personnel and civilians worked to rescue the injured under the caption, 'The central bonfire this year in Rafah.' Dromi retweeted another user's post which also showed a fire in Rafah, adding her own 'Happy Holidays.'"

/ Neo-Zionism’s Dirty Laundry

Regarding the brief comment about demographic engineering in , this issue is not a secret, though it is rarely discussed so blatantly in Israeli media, albeit Channel 14. One thing is certain: when you become comfortable demonizing Palestinians, it won't take long before you start demonizing other sectors in your society as well.

————

Original title of this report was: “Everything is kosher for the sake of Netanyahu: The disgusting statement of Channel 14 host against former Soviet Union immigrants”

Content:

Channel 14 host Boaz Golan criticized former minister Avigdor Lieberman: "He is constantly working to bring more and more gentiles here...another Ukrainian. They brought gentiles here and it's screwing up our demographics."

Harsh statements made last week on Channel 14 against immigrants from the former Soviet Union are causing an uproar in the sector, considered the largest in Israel. The comments were made by channel 14 host Boaz Golan, on the "Open Studio" program, referring to criticism of former minister Avigdor Lieberman, one of Prime Minister Netanyahu's fiercest critics.

Golan claimed that Lieberman acted to bring non-Jewish immigrants to Israel because he needed votes.

Among other things, Golan said, "He is constantly working to bring more and more gentiles here...another Ukrainian..." Later Golan said, "They brought gentiles here and it's screwing up our demographics...we need to act so that gentiles don't enter here and this remains a strong Jewish state."

If yes, then how?
If no, then why not?

If Israel is not seeking war with Iran, why is its war cabinet meeting and vowing that they will "exact a price"?

blepharon ,

@MikeDunnAuthor

Because Netanyahu is totally focused on avoiding conviction for corruption (& therefore jail), and his cabinet henchmen & henchwomen are totally focused on genocide (according to their own repeated on-the-record public statements). Then the Gaza oil & gas can be drilled & maybe a canal built, & some beachside real estate sold to rich settlers. So everyone wins (except Palestinians, but they were abandoned by the global powers somewhere around 1917).
Anything else is just PR.

#WestBank (occupied) / Blinken says Israel's new settlements in West Bank "inconsistent" with international law

[…] Speaking at a news conference during a trip to Buenos Aires, #Blinken said the United States was disappointed in Israel's announcement of plans for building new housing in the occupied West Bank, saying they were counterproductive to reaching an enduring peace.
[…] "They're also inconsistent with international law. Our administration maintains a firm opposition to settlement expansion, and in our judgment this only weakens, doesn't strengthen Israel's security," Blinken said.

Israell quite openly now DENIES the occupation. Their line (even if it is wartime rhetoric) is that it is THEIR land. They say it is all eretz Israel. They claim sovereignty from "the river Jordan to the Mediterranean" (or "from the river to the sea" to put it another way). That's why Netanyahu calls the enemy "Amalek".
And their allies don't challenge that language or those claims. Which makes my country complicit in war crimes and genocide.

How many Palestinian deaths will it take before Israel's allies start using the same sort of language about Israel's war crimes as they use about the deaths caused by Hamas on Oct 7th?

Does the death toll need to be 50,000 or 100,000 before Blinken will speak of horrific atrocities or war crimes? or use words like murder, massacre, unspeakable violence? Or even genocide? Will me feel merely "uncomfortable" at 200,000 Palestinian deaths?

Is his hand being forced? If so, who by?
And why? I can guess, but I have no idea.
Certainly Israel's war-leaders have given every indication of planning for expulsion or extermination, and I don't hear Israel's allies trying seriously to stop that crime.

Labour will squirm and wriggle about that word "immediate" - as if 28000+ deaths, of mostly women and children, ought to go on for a bit longer.

At the ICJ the irrefutable legal arguments about the occupation are being made. But they don't seem to convince Labour.

    Excellent piece by Nesrine Malik in today's about and reprehensible, unwavering support of 's genocide against -
    "Something odd is happening. A sort of glitch or malfunction. politicians who refuse to call for a in or halt support for Israel’s assault are no longer making sense, and increasingly seem as though they are going through a crisis. Garbled language and contradictory statements are becoming common among establishment figures. When was asked if cutting off water and supplies are actions that fall within international law, he said on live radio that “does have that right”. Then, his party claimed he never said this at all. When Starmer said that would not recognise unilaterally, his own shadow foreign secretary, David Lammy, told the Financial Times that Labour would consider it ... Meanwhile, said he was “worried” that Israel may have broken international law, but that this did not change the UK’s stance on exporting weapons to Israel. Riddle me that ... You might call this tendency Schrödinger’s policy. The US secretary of state, Antony , said that 7 October could not be taken as licence to “dehumanise” others, but his government chose twice to invoke the right to bypass Congress and provide more weapons to Israel ... This dissonance is a product of attempting to reconcile an irreconcilable position. The facts are simply too stark for anyone to confront them while plausibly continuing to support Israel’s actions in Gaza. So politicians instead resort to contradictory and sometimes wild explanations to avoid calling out these actions or demanding that anything should be done about them."
