Germany Designates BDS as 'Suspected Extremist Group'

"Germany's federal intelligence agency classified the international Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement as a suspected extremist organization this week.

"This new designation will allow German authorities to monitor BDS activists and recruit informants within the organization."

"Zionism’s solution for the 'problem' of the Palestinians is to empty them of any meaning or life that is not self-referential, such that they can be eliminated without triggering remorse, such that the decision to let them stay—on the land, alive, it doesn’t matter—becomes an act of benevolence. If the Palestinians are allowed historical grievances (or anything beyond 'desires and prejudices'), a consciousness before Zionism, beyond Europe, Zionism collapses.

"Insofar as Palestinians exist, they are about Israel. Those uncomfortable with the optics of Zionism measure the condition of its Palestinian subjects as a litmus test for Israel’s soul...Palestinians exist on the state’s periphery, as both mirror and threat, helping Zionists articulate an identity, projected against and shaped by this existential foil (in other words, textbook orientalism). Palestinians are the glue that holds Israel together."

"Embodying Homeland: Palestinian Grief and the Perseverance of Beauty in a Time of Genocide" by Devin G. Atallah & Hisham Awartani

"The layers of loss we, Palestinians in the homeland and exile, face individually and collectively in our bodies, families, and communities are stacked within decades of colonial violence perpetrated by the colonial cult of death. The accumulation, however, is not only across time, but also reaches across space. Our grief is transnational and intergenerational, intimate and collective, spiritual and embodied. And so is our homeland. As the Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish reminds us, Palestine urges us to recast it, time and again, 'with all the tools of the impossible.'

"When we grieve, listen, and love as Palestinians, we are revolutionaries of the world. When we find the courage to transform our pain—to process our grief—into energies for the perseverance of the beauty in all that we love against the currents of cruelty our people face, we teach the world a lesson in humanity: 'Palestinians teach a fundamental decolonial truth, which the current world is still unable to comprehend—that Gaza has liberated us all.' Palestinian grief asks the entire world a question: What would life be like for you, without our people? Who will remember all the beauty of that which we love?"

'Happy Holidays': Right-wing Israeli Journalists Celebrate Rafah Attack, Likening It to Lag Ba'Omer Bonfire

"Two right-wing journalists reacted to the death of scores of Palestinians killed in Gaza on Sunday night by making a joke likening footage of the fires caused by the Israeli airstrike that killed them to the traditional bonfires lit on the Jewish holiday of Lag Ba'Omer, which also took place Sunday night.

Journalist Yinon Magal – who hosts the popular panel show The Patriots on Israel's pro-government news outlet Channel 14 – and news columnist and frequent Channel 12 panelist, Naveh Dromi, tweeted two versions of the same reaction to the unfolding tragedy in Rafah to their social media accounts. Magal posted a video of fires blazing in Rafah as emergency personnel and civilians worked to rescue the injured under the caption, 'The central bonfire this year in Rafah.' Dromi retweeted another user's post which also showed a fire in Rafah, adding her own 'Happy Holidays.'"

Perhaps not a popular view, but as someone who believes not only in Palestinian liberation but in abolition and anarchy, I am not celebrating the ICC seeking warrants for Netanyahu, Gallant, Sinwar, Deif, and Haniyeh.

The ICC falls firmly within the punitive, repressive carceral system and logic on which modernity operates. Putting people in prison, even people we don't like, does not heal, does not transform harm, does not lead to justice. It simply perpetuates a cycle and mindset of revenge as punishment.

"You can't jail an idea" is a popular slogan. But the same holds true for genocidal, hierarchical, supremacist ideas and the power behind them. Jailing Netanyahu is not only something that will not happen, but were it to happen, it would not stop genocide or Zionism or settler colonialism.

While fighting to stop the genocide, while tending to the immense loss, suffering, and harm, I believe we also need to articulate and propose liberatory visions that escape discourses of states, leaders, and oppressive ideologies of which the ICC is a part.

Israeli Settlers Torch Cars in West Bank Village, Raid Truck Carrying Aid for Gaza

Dozens of settlers entered the Palestinian village of Yatma, south of Nablus, and set tires and cars on fire on Sunday, before proceeding to the Tapuah Junction in the northern West Bank, two security sources said.

Earlier Sunday, dozens of Israelis gathered at the Tapuah and Yatma junctions and threw stones at Palestinians, the security sources added. Several of them, including children, blocked a road in the area.

Traffic between Tapuah and the West Bank settlement of Eviatar, meanwhile, was blocked in both directions. Dozens of other Israelis simultaneously gathered in the area around Eviatar, stopping a Palestinian truck and damaging the equipment it was carrying. The rioters claimed that the truck was delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Security sources said Border Police dispersed the rioters and arrested four in all the incidents. Earlier, activists against the transfer of aid to the Gaza Strip took goods out of trucks in the Lakish Junction area and destroyed the contents.

On Friday, settlers attacked a truck driver near the settlement of Kochav Hashar in the central West Bank, believing that he was delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza. Later, reservists who were called to the scene and tried to treat the driver were beaten by the rioters, according to a security source. The driver was moderately injured, and two officers and a soldier were slightly injured. There were no arrests in the incident.

An important, powerful piece on #Sudan.

"In her work on 'grievability,' Judith Butler argues that some lives are more grievable and hold more value than others. Ungrievable lives, in her definition, are lives that can’t be lost or destroyed, because they as they already inhabit a lost and destroyed zone. They are perceived ontologically, from the very beginning, as already lost and destroyed—meaning that when these lives are destroyed in war, nothing is destroyed. The Sudanese identity, which blends 'blackness' and 'Muslimness,' is a recipe for disaster in the world of global solidarity that rejects either one of the two identities or both."

"The UN has run out of tents and food to distribute to almost 2 million people in Gaza, the majority displaced from their homes and dependent on aid to stave off looming famine.

"'There are no tents in humanitarian warehouses. There are also no stocks of food left with World Food Programme or UNRWA.'"

"It is hard to predict how we will historicize this current moment, but if our reflections on the late forties are any indication, we might remember only today’s destruction and defeat. And so when one begins to write or speak about Palestine, it is tempting to look at loss and only loss, and to find in this loss a plea for survival. But there is — and always has been — more to our reality."

"With the Aurora Borealis above us and the martyrs in our hearts, we attacked the UC Office of the President in solidarity with the Palestinian Resistance. Using a fire extinguisher filled with red paint we covered the facade and smashed seven windows. Then, with access to the building, we released 500 cockroaches inside and emptied a second fire exintguisher onto the interior. We finalized the act by leaving a water jug inscribed with 'Bonk' at the scene - an homage to the militants of Cal Poly Humboldt and the international student encampment movement."

"Given the diversity of tactics used by students and administrators, and many questions and concerns we are receiving, PACBI wants to outline, as a member organization of the Palestinian BDS National Committee (BNC) representing the broadest Palestinian coalition, a simple path of strategic radicalism to move forward collectively."
