Anything sold by Gwyneth Paltrow in her online shop, which I will not name here so as not to promote it. In the best case, goods sold there will be harmless and entirely useless. In the worst case, they will cause serious harm.

The police are the enforcers of the rich. They uphold the system that keeps us down. They are 100% part of the problem.

The GWPF has in the past expressed the view that carbon dioxide has been mis-characterised as pollution, when in fact it is a “benefit to the planet”. GWPF director Benny Peiser has said “it’s extraordinary that anyone should think there is a climate crisis”.

So, it's a doomsday death cult that guy is a member of?

Soooooooo.... at what stage do you add the pineapple?

UpperBroccoli ,

Also....... PV-Anlagen auf Golfplätze?!!!!

Never talk to the police. They are not there to help you.

OpenSSL goes GitHub only ( openssl.org )

We’re no longer using our old ftp, rsync, and git links for distributing OpenSSL. These were great in their day, but it’s time to move on to something better and safer. ftp://ftp.openssl.org and rsync://rsync.openssl.org are not available anymore. As of June 1, 2024, we’re also going to shut down https://ftp.openssl.org...

Good idea, giving Microsoft control over every single open source project. I mean, what could go wrong, right?

Kristi Noem says the story demonstrates her willingness to "do what needs to be done." ( lemmy.world )

She decided to kill the 14-month-old dog she was training to hunt birds when it attacked chickens, an understandable mistake for a young dog IMO, and bit her once when she grabbed it's collar (no word on how seriously). She killed a goat by shooting it twice because she didn't like it, calling it mean and smelly. Apparently...

UpperBroccoli ,

Realizing she probably cared about that dog and goat more than she ever will about you and people like you:

We don’t have enough systems in place to prevent the rich from taking more than their fair share.

If we did, there would be no billionaires.

UpperBroccoli ,

Not necessarily.
There are a lot of scams involving charity. Here's a small, ad-hoc made-up example to illustrate:

  • Buy cheap artwork from obscure artist for $500
  • Wait a while
  • Buy an expert expertise that says your art is super revolutionary and worth $5.000.000
  • Donate that super important piece of art to some charity or museum or whatever
  • Write off $5.000.000 in taxes

I would argue that the greatest cost is paid by all the species that vanish forever.

Do they have to be recent or alive? If not:

Sister Rosetta Tharpe - if there is any one person that can be attributed with inventing Rock'n'Roll, it is her, and she gets far too little credit for it. Watch this docu about her to find out more, or even better yet, listen to her songs.

We had a partial eclipse here in 2000. It was at noon, and I took an hour of from my job to watch it. Was still a pretty cool experience.
