A buddy of mine at my Madison Mini Painting Club had a pal of his 3d print some tiny clones of him to give to folks. I painted mine as "Black Ty," a pun on his name.

Mini source: Unknown, probably Hero Forge or similar
Mini painting by me.

2024 thought: Tying ability increases to backgrounds is as arbitrary as tying them to species. From a gameplay perspective, it's better to tie them to classes, so you're not forced to select a specific background/species for your class to be effective.

Success!!

32-page minizine -- 60 critters (the ones recently posted on Lone Knight) and 60 short NPC descriptions (or character inspirations or whatever) --

My stapling job is laughably off-centre and I should probably have tried to fix it before taking pictures but oh well, lol

I'll try to post up the pdf(s) some time today or tonight, I need to go yell about some things atm (nothing bad) --

a view of two pages of the mini zine, showing the header "Roll Call" and short (two or so sentences) descriptions of non-player characters
holding up a one-eighth-size mini zine; titled Wandering Wayfarers, it has a silhouette-style art of a hound and some strange creatures on the cover, and the subtitle "beasts and benedictions, friends and foes"

folk, I have a bunch of kids who are keen on playing some "D&D". Ages 11, 10, 9, 8. No adults involved, one of them will DM for the others. They are all smart and excellent readers but full fat D&D is too much. Any suggestions? I prefer a physical book if possible.

I’m playing D&D online with my best friends from high school, and the years just melted away: I was surrounded by enemies and my buddy just used me as ground zero for a fireball.

I don’t know whether you’ve heard of the ‘Oblique Strategies’ card deck produced by Brian Eno et al in 1975? The idea is that it was creative prompts to help you break through artistic/musical creative blocks and dry spells.

Might be useful for RPG designers too?

The Caribbean vampire—soucouyant, in St. Lucia and Trinidad; Ol’ Higue, in Jamaica, Belize, Guyana, and elsewhere—is usually a crone who feeds on the blood of infants. She sheds her skin at night and transforms into a ball of fire. In this form, the sorceress can make herself small enough to enter a house through a keyhole.

"Lore isn’t chiseled onto stone tablets, it’s hastily scrawled on coffee-stained napkins. Which is how you get something like Luke and Leia kissing in The Empire Strikes Back and being outed as siblings in Return of the Jedi. George Lucas was laying down the rails while the train was already moving. Lore only becomes lore after the fact when people start devoting their lives to analyzing the story."
