Keep trying to think of an IP where I genuinely care about the canon, and all I come back to is if Shakespeare improved via adaptation, how am I supposed to care about canon?

@mikertrice it’s more and more evident that canon has become so important nowadays because it’s a way for nerds to establish dominance over other nerds.

@Tim_Eagon @mikertrice I don't see it this way. For me, if I'm going to spend the time with something that builds a world and has characters I care about, then I want those stories (books, shows, movies, etc.) to matter, always

I don't want to spend my time being invested in something that is going to be retconned to suit a new generation of fans OR the whims of a new storyteller. Don't change what is established, and expect us to just roll with it. Invested time matters and should be honored.
