I have the Character Builder running in a Windows VM on my Linux desktop.

An enjoyable side hustle and a possible further online game.

Doing some research on the for an upcoming game, in which the heroes go up against the shadow dragon Morsinth.

The dragon believes that the victory of the Elemental Princes - and their universe-ending lord Tharizdun - is inevitable, and seeks to retreat into the shadows and darkness.

Too bad he captured an angel that the heroes need to get back.

I'm envisioning the dragon's lair straddles the Prime Material Plane and the Shadowfell, with weirdness in between.

Recommendations on good Shadowfell sourcebooks (or Shadowfell adventures to be plundered?).

(as an aside, I am mildly amused that the Shadowfell is a construct that caught on, given the general hate/dislike for 4e).

Is D&D 4th edition terrible for roleplaying? (TLDR: No.)

In a recent rereading of the rules, I was reminded of how 4e puts aspects of RP right up front.

In my video, I explore the roleplaying support that D&D 4e does well that isn’t necessarily present in other editions of the game.

I'm going to be on Gen Con's Twitch channel tomorrow (June 8) at 10 am Pacific playing the best edition of D&D: 4th!

I miss that edition a lot, actually, and it'll be great to get some time with it again.

I believe the plan is to start the stream off with a discussion about the game and then hopping into adventure.

It's part of the ongoing series Peter Adkison's been doing celebrating the 50th anniversary of D&D, going through all the editions.

Larina Nix for Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition
While working on my post for earlier today on D&D 4th Edition, I can't help but think about the lost opportunities that the game had. So, I wanted to give one of my favorite characters a try.

The was one of my favorite cities when I was a kid. Loved the map! What’s your fave fantasy city? 😊

@laidbackdm I am going to go with Sharn in Eberron, but I would also like to mention Gloomwrought, a gloomy metropolis in the Shadowfell introduced during 4e. It’s quite good.

Started laughing while listening to the latest @slyflourish video.

It's on using paper character sheets to avoid being beholden to what big corporations decide to do to the digital tools we use.

I literally just printed a bunch of and character sheets to play with.

For all that Hasbro and WotC were completely focused on digital tools as the primary focus in the days, the books have far better layout than

Looking at the Eberron books, information like the Calendar of Khorvaire gets its own sidebar in the 4e book while it's buried in body text in the 5e book.

I also really like the inclusion of a relevant statblock tied to the lore it goes with rather than all of them being shoved to the back of the book.

So, do you have any gaming plans for the weekend?
This weekend I am lucky. I am attending a Pioneer tournament on Saturday and running a session for my group on Sunday.
