Gimp 3 is already very nice! Use it exclusively.

I mean I already reported 2 issues, but it still works. I can use it without big problems, I use the beta Flatpak (as explained in my flatpak remotes list).

Using Wayland too, Idk about any problems but if it wouldnt work I would just disable Wayland for the Flatpak and the app automatically runs through XWayland

Update available! This version is very old.

Xscreensaver has apparently been checking for updates and is disappointed that it hasn't had one for 14 months because Debian is too stable. Can anyone recommend a linux screensaver which would work with xfce and can be trusted to never do that?

  2. Das nimmt Ressourcen, und es gibt etliche bessere Medien. "X" und Instagram als Alternativen sind ein Witz. Ein einfacher, kurzer RSS Feed oder Mastodon/Lemmy Account würde allen Menschen den Zugriff ermöglichen

This. Androids permission toggles combine multiple ones. GrapheneOS actually adds more of these toggles, as some things like Network and various sensor permissions are always on (wtf Android). But even those are combined toggles.

You can also display more permissions on the permission page, top right.

I hope I'm not annoying you kind folks too much with my ongoing Tutamail woes, but, in the long slow process of divorcing myself from them (and returning to Thunderbird), I'm looking for an email host/provider that integrates well with TB, meaning that it can sync mail, contacts, calendars, and tasks between the Linux desktop...

Mailbox.org is nice and has calendar which works with TB. They also have tons of aliases in the 3€/mo plan, temporary addresses, enforced TLS encryption domain etc.

It uses the Matrix protocol which is kind of a red flag because of performance, but its encrypted.

I'm running the latest GrapheneOS with no VPN and yesterday it was failing and saying "if you're using one, try disconnecting from proxy/VPN" and today it's saying server not found. This happens regardless whether I click on Anonymous, or Anonymous (insecure)....

  • on GrapheneOS you do not need the legacy "manage all files" permission. GrapheneOS has a specific "obb" permission for installing apps, thats it and even that is legacy
  • use the session installer, nothing else.

How do you manage your headphone cables?

I recently switched from wireless to wired headphones (Samson SR-850, probably the best for the very reasonable price) and my chair's wheels instantly started eating its cable. Right now I'm using a small plastic hook that came with a face mask to keep it off the floor, but I'd like to hear other solutions.

Verification doesnt help at all if the source is not trusted. All this says is "upstream developers maintain this package". Unofficial packages can be safe too, like VLC.

For me, Google video search, Google books (Internet Archive is good, but doesn't always have the same stuff), Adobe InDesign (but in the process of learning LaTeX), and Typewise. I find it easy to use and use both, Noscript for Javascript (all opt-in), UBlock for adblock (badness enumeration) and "cookie autodelete" (on mobile, for opt-in keeping cookies and deleting the rest)

I mean it is basically profit on the back of cheap smartphone labor and a lot of wasted electricity, but it works. The stupid amazon giftcards are a problem, you could sell them for anonymous paying though.
