With the rampant corruption?

Theoretically with all the amassed oil wealth they could already be unstoppable. Instead it was spent on lavish villas, yachts, an so on.

What's the point of having hundreds of billions in the bank when the population is still living with Soviet infrastructure?

They don't do a "wanted list" for murderers, I don't think they're going to do that for some drunken tourist that was dressed like a penis

Moonrise2473 ,

There are many cases where murderers were allowed to leave the country under the "pinky promise I will come back "

For example Rassoul Bissoultanov

The Spanish system is overburdened and someone is finally judged guilty after years and years. Meanwhile, if leave the country, good luck finding them again.

They can't manage for murders and robberies, adding block lists for petty crimes would only exacerbate the situation

One day before the attacks, it [Starlink] just shut down. It became super, super slow.”

wonder if it's because they're calling their ketamine-powered buddy

So what's the point of this Israeli NGO? That because another Arab country that has economic interests removed mentions of Palestine, then the Israeli government is allowed to remove from existence the Palestinians?

Lawsuit against American Airlines claims Black passengers were asked to deboard flight ( www.theguardian.com )

Five other Black male passengers were also asked to leave the plane, a press statement said, adding, “As the plaintiffs began to comply with the directive to deplane, they noticed that the only* *passengers who were being ordered off the plane were Black men, and it appeared that every Black man on the flight was being...

Have you ever bough an external hardrive only to take the disk out of it?

Hiya, so am looking to buy more storage and while browsing am seeing some external harddisks, such as Western Digital My Book and Seagate Expansion Desktop for cheaper than the internal harddisks themselves. Have seen this one video from KTZ Systems where he bought up multiple of these external ones just to open them up and use...

Moonrise2473 ,

Yes and i got "scammed" - western digital in order to save $3 included the USB port directly on the drive motherboard instead of the usual sata+usb like anyone else was doing

Moonrise2473 ,

maybe if you buy them from aliexpress, but WD/Seagate USB drives have better warranty than internal drives and at the same time they need to withstand more abuse from users (of course that warranty is void the moment you shuck them)

for some people is normal to keep an hdd in the backpack and carry it around all the time (for me is unconceivable)

Moonrise2473 ,

"tragic mishap" is when it accidentally happens once a decade, not when it "accidentally" happens every day

Moonrise2473 ,

"Teens are dying on bikes" - it's because of a bike of it's because of a fucking truck that weighs like 300 bikes?

Moonrise2473 ,

I like metube from a manually curated list

Liked videos or added to playlist requires Google login on both the viewer and the downloader and for me that is unacceptable

HouseFresh disappeared from Google Search results. Now what? - An elaborate historical analysis and overview of Google search results and media landscape ( housefresh.com )

From Forbes and Money content farms, to Google search algorithm changes promoting generic and generated content and big media platforms over specific results, to Google prioritizing ads, overpriced, and other worse results.

So maybe it could be that they set cloudflare so aggressive that's blocking all the bots including the googlebot

It's resurfacing old tech? My Sony Ericsson P800 from 20 years ago had a screen that worked great in direct sunlight. It worked best in direct sunlight, the brightest the sun, the better you could see. Downside is that in the dark it had poor illumination

It's LCD with a reflective background and lateral illumination rather than backlight

Moonrise2473 OP ,

I deleted all my content last year 😞

Should have replaced it with some random words

Moonrise2473 ,

I like the pixel art

Moonrise2473 ,

I played it on my phone and I really like it. Nice music nice physics, fun details like you can crash to the trash can and have the lid close over your body lol

Moonrise2473 ,

Mine it's also pretty hot, and i use it in IT mode

Moonrise2473 ,

I think it's h300

Don't know how hot as I don't know how to read it (using a consumer mobo with no ipmi) but it's "your finger will burn" hot

Did tiktok change something?

I have friends that send me tiktok links via whatsapp and then they ask questions about it like "what do you think, scam or not". I used to open them with cookies rejected in ddg browser but now it pretends to freeze after 4 seconds of play, then it says that i must open it in the app and replaces the "play" button with a fake...

Moonrise2473 OP ,

LOL "cringe" as subdomain in my instances 😂

I was ready to write shit on Tesla then I saw the video. The asshole was driving at that speed in the fog??? And let some alpha proof of concept software that relies only on cameras to let drive in the fog?????

If the human eye doesn't see the train crossing, how a camera can see it?

Although a bit of fault to Tesla, because the system should have known from the maps that over there was a train crossing and should have slowed down anyway

Moonrise2473 ,

True, it should also refuse to activate in low visibility situation

USA: we have proof of genocide in Xinjiang, even if the local government does its best to hide it

Also USA: genocide in Gaza? What? Bibi is such a nice guy! There's not enough proof, video evidence and direct witnesses don't count

I feel that's not actually replaced by ai rather his previous works have been templated and a script is replacing names and stuff automatically. The solution is called "ai" because in this way the developer can price it higher

This said, for a client point of view, switching from "everything is custom" (=$$$) to "everything is from a cookie cutter" is not good. Long term viability of that marketing company is compromised, IMHO. Why a client should pay $$$ if all it gets is something that could come with $5 from Fiverr or even with a free Canva trial?

A graphic designer is still indispensable, especially if they were "so busy that could barely take a few days off"

Moonrise2473 ,

The year of desktop Linux?

Moonrise2473 ,

Also the decision of Microsoft of discontinuing windows on hardware produced before 2018 is an incentive to transition to Linux in developing countries (although I saw massive use of windows 7 even today...)

Moonrise2473 ,

As usual doing malicious compliance, like when they pretended that iOS and iPadOS were two completely separate operating systems and so iPadOS shouldn't need to support third party app stores as EU said "iOS"

Moonrise2473 ,

Probably because there aren't any, they can't specifically say "iOS".

I'm not aware of any other operating system (except the ones in game consoles or dedicated hw) that doesn't allow the user to install other software not approved by the manufacturer

And then the American government helps to speed up the process by banning Intel to selling CPUs to Huawei and affiliates

The reason China is forcing themselves to use shitty, slow, and inefficient processors is because they're indirectly injecting billions in the industry in this way, because no consumer would ever buy a zhaoxin CPU, which is slower than a celeron while more expensive than a core i7.

So, government using shitty processors = after a decade those shitty processors should improve to parity.

Now, if also consumers are forced to use the shitty processors, then the industry has even more incentive to improve

Moonrise2473 ,

No, it's this, they mostly want x86 for government use https://www.tomshardware.com/news/loongson-launches-3a6000-cpu-matches-14600k-ipc

An article that lists the CPU: https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/cpus/china-bans-intel-and-amd-cpus-for-government-offices-and-servers-plans-to-switch-to-domestic-made-alternatives

That Huawei CPU is mostly marketing as doing 5nm chips with duv machines is possible but yields much less because it needs more steps. It's also the same design of 4 years ago

Patriotism + unlimited funding = innovation

Moonrise2473 OP ,

I always click on annoying ads just to fuck with their ad budget, this appeared after clicking on a fake download button.

Moonrise2473 OP ,

Ads on website pay on a "pay for each click" basis. So for each click I waste 5 cents of their budget and hopefully end the campaign a bit earlier than expected

Moonrise2473 OP ,

Pay per view ads are only for walled gardens with a monopoly.

Nobody clicks on ads = the site owner makes lots of money from ads, but advertisers spend a lot of money for low conversions.

No advertiser would ever choose a pay per view model when there's the possibility of pay per click

For example when I was a reddit users I ran a campaign on Reddit and nobody was clicking the link. After all, you're doomscrolling, why would you click on an ad? Maybe accidentally, or if it has a deceiving or click bait title. Instead on a normal website, once you're done with the news or got the info you were searching for, you're more likely to click somewhere. It's the reason most Facebook ads are downright scams, because otherwise nobody would click them and also they filter only the gullible people thinking that yes, that Alibaba resell tech masterpiece for $99 discounted from $390 is a very good deal.

Moonrise2473 ,

Yes sure and all the increased train traffic that the satellites are recording are just empty trains

A country that devotes most of its budget to the military is certainly unable to make ammunitions.

Go to watch the recording of their military parades to see how many weapons they're showing.

They're not just parading with a sad little tank from the 40s like that "greatest military power in the world"

Does a VPN used on a smartphone with Wi-Fi disabled (mobile data only enabled) provide any sort of protection?

I've never completely understood this, but I think the answer would probably be "no," although I'm not sure. Usually when I leave the house I turn off wifi and just use mobile data (this is a habit from my pre-VPN days), although I guess I should probably just keep it on since using strange Wi-Fi with a VPN is ok (unless someone...

Moonrise2473 ,

Only if you live in a country like russia, china, iran, north korea or south arabia

Moonrise2473 OP ,

In the github issues the dev is aware of this but he's not completely enraged, just mildly infuriated that the design is too similar and he's politely asking to have a different design.

From the history in the wayback machine i don't see any "parking" page between the switch, so my guesswork is that the dev has been approached with an offer like "we like that domain, we would like to buy it for $$$", unaware that they would copy the design like that in order to achieve maximum deception of users

Moonrise2473 ,

But knowing Cisco, the router would be unsupported and with some unpatched zero day vulnerability when the RTC battery dies...

Moonrise2473 ,

If you want to just use it exclusively as a Nas, then why not truenas?

I have a unRAID server but the nas part is nowhere as good as truenas (slower, worse ad integration)

Main issue with virtualization is the bootable USB with the serial number that's used as DRM
