Other question for anyone listening here: How can we check if an outlet is correctly grounded ? I live in a faily new appartment with good outlets, but maybe I should make sure they are OK ?

Krafting ,
@Krafting@lemmy.world avatar

Granted. but it's a 15000 RPM Dell server fan.

Krafting ,
@Krafting@lemmy.world avatar

I'll install this on my Lab it looks cool!

Also, is there any mobile app that can trace and upload trails I do in the day ?

Krafting ,
@Krafting@lemmy.world avatar

Looks like what I wanted! However, it doesn't seem to let me export to a supported format for Wanderer (only kmz?), could you confirm @get_flomped ?

Krafting ,
@Krafting@lemmy.world avatar

Awesome, thanks for the tip! I'll try the app on my next trail trip

On Masto, you should follow Hashtag that you like, then you'll start following some people when you want more of them !

@Krafting@lemmy.world avatar

Well, you can enable it per-library, also Storage is not that much, I scalled down to 160p tho for my needs it's more than enough

But for my library, it took a few weeks, but I limited the number of ffmpeg thread to 3-4.

Krafting ,
@Krafting@lemmy.world avatar

Well all the same, except for the number of thread. in the end (at around80%) I bumbed the threads to 15, and CPU was still the same in the consumption, however, there were 15 ffmpeg process. so maybe a but in the jellyfin-ffmpeg package ? or maybe I'm missing something here

Does the form factor between 3.5" and 2.5" matter in a NAS server? ( slrpnk.net )

Been finding some good deals on 2.5 disks lately, but have never bought one before. Have a couple of 3.5 disks on the other hand in my Unraid server. Wondering how much it matters wether I get a 2.5 or not? What form factor do you prefer/usually go for?

Krafting OP ,
@Krafting@lemmy.world avatar

well, it is the hottest part of the server, everything else run at 40-45C. Also, this temperature mean the fan spin up a bit too much for my tast, this is why I want to lower the temperature!

The temperature doesn't cause performance issue, it just cause the fans to speed up, plus this make my room hotter.
Sometime the raid card runs at 60-65C too.

Krafting OP ,
@Krafting@lemmy.world avatar

This is exaclty what I think too. But does anyone have tested this and is the theory same as in reality?

Backup up is not an issue of course! Restoring either, 10GB cards at the rescue!

Krafting OP ,
@Krafting@lemmy.world avatar

How hot ? and what model ? is it the same ?

Krafting OP ,
@Krafting@lemmy.world avatar

There is a SAS connector on the Motherboard, but I have 12 drives and I'm unsure if it would work. Nothing gets reported in the OS as another RAID controller on the OS.

I thought about plain HBA too, but if I can avoid putting money for now ahah

Firmware is the latest, I try to keep my systems up-to-date as much as possible!

Krafting OP ,
@Krafting@lemmy.world avatar

I might try it, but for now I don't really want to put the server offline for a test ahah, I'll try to get info about this port tho.

A music player for Jellyfin (that support SyncPlay)

Krafting ,
@Krafting@lemmy.world avatar

Files need to be executable iirc, verify permission and compare permissions from a file that is shown in your library from a file that isn't.

Krafting ,
@Krafting@lemmy.world avatar

Jellyfin will find all files, naming files is for when jellyfin needs to fetch metadata, if your file is not named correctly, jellyfin might struggle to find its correct metadata.

Also, look if there are not weird chars in filename, for example emoji, weird unicode and stuff, I don't think that's the issue here but maybe?

Also, for permission check if all files have the same user:group permission

Krafting ,
@Krafting@lemmy.world avatar

Concerts ? this seems like an plugin to me. You can just create a second Movie library ?

Krafting ,
@Krafting@lemmy.world avatar

Yes good point, sorry, directory should be executable, files don't have to be.

Thank you for pointing it out!

I use grafana that gets data from a Zabbix server and also a proxmox exporter for prometheus, most VM also have a zabbix agent, mainly to monitor disk usage.

Krafting ,
@Krafting@lemmy.world avatar

Well, just don't host them, what she gonna do? Tell the police ?

Krafting OP ,
@Krafting@lemmy.world avatar

I've been jealous of people, same as you, now it's my turn to shine! Your turn will come!

Krafting OP ,
@Krafting@lemmy.world avatar

that's true ahah

Krafting OP ,
@Krafting@lemmy.world avatar

Oh yeah, forgot to mention: All of this for free at my work, I work in a datacenter!

Krafting OP ,
@Krafting@lemmy.world avatar

If the internet archive wants some, I'd love to give some to them ahah

But I'm already archiving a lot of stuff, from Youtube, ISO, and more!

Krafting OP ,
@Krafting@lemmy.world avatar

Depends on the data on them. They were erased before I got them of course too.

Krafting OP ,
@Krafting@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah... that sucks, but then they'll tell you about green IT and stuff, but they just throw away and destroy stuff that could be used elsewhere...

Krafting OP ,
@Krafting@lemmy.world avatar

With 88 disks, some RAID 5 I think I'm going to be okey if one of them fails! (I also have a backup server)

Krafting OP ,
@Krafting@lemmy.world avatar

come and get them!

Krafting OP ,
@Krafting@lemmy.world avatar

Drives, I understand but servers tho...

Krafting OP ,
@Krafting@lemmy.world avatar

I'm in France, however I'll not sell them immediately, maybe you could check serverpartsdeals to get some cheap refurbished drives

Krafting OP ,
@Krafting@lemmy.world avatar

Let's just make an arena where the nerds fight to win a disk!

Krafting OP ,
@Krafting@lemmy.world avatar

For now nope, and it's SAS, do you have use for them ?
Also look at serverpartsdeal to buy some nice used drives ! https://serverpartdeals.com/collections/hard-drives

Krafting OP ,
@Krafting@lemmy.world avatar

Probably here : https://serverpartdeals.com/collections/hard-drives
They sold 18TB drives for 100€ last months

"What is this one doing??? Is he... what's this weird Arch logo on his laptop"

Krafting OP ,
@Krafting@lemmy.world avatar

Who plays COD nowadays ?

Krafting OP ,
@Krafting@lemmy.world avatar

My server got updated a lot, starting with a single 1 TB disk, the a single 4TB disk, to 6 4tb disks and now it will be 10 8TB disks

Krafting OP ,
@Krafting@lemmy.world avatar

Keep in mind they are refurbished tho! They will work fine, but they also have a lot of hours on them too!

But you're welcome! They do offer some sweet deals!

Krafting OP ,
@Krafting@lemmy.world avatar

I have my eyes on some fiber channel stuff that got decomissionned, I'll probably try something with that
