@rbreich Am I better off now than I would be if Trump had won a second term, but I am not better off than I was 4 years ago. Things get worse more slowly under a Democratic President than under a Republican one, but they don't actually get better for the working classes.

Keep your eyes on this story. Shadowy “online” Axos Bank and its biggest billionaire shareholder, Don Hankey, have together extended more than $500 million in financing for Trump’s benefit. They helped him out on loans and now a huge civil judgment. What will they get in return?

@rbreich Was this part of the revelation that Trump and his lawyers lied to the judge about not being able to afford the bond payment and needed to have it reduced? 'Cause that's a pretty big part of the story. The guy committed fraud in order to reduce the bond payment required to appeal the his fraud trial ruling.

@rbreich I don't know, man. How is RFK Jr, a man who spent decades branding himself as an anti-vaxx and anti-pharmaceutical conspiracy theorist take more votes away from Biden than he would from Trump? When I think of the Kennedy name, I don't think of JFK or RFK Sr. I think of Chappaquiddick, the rape allegations of the extended family, and the racist COVID conspiracies of RFK Jr. That's not something I'd want to touch with a 60-foot pole.

@rbreich The fact that he hasn't proposed it in the last four years and the Dems didn't make it a down ballot campaign issue in 2020 or 2022 tells me it's little more than an empty campaign promise that will be forgotten about as soon as Biden wins. If his polls weren't in the toilet do to his inaction on Gaza, he wouldn't even consider some of his campaign promises.

-Cut taxes more for the rich
-Defund the IRS so the rich can cheat
-End student loan forgiveness
-End overtime rules
-Slash school lunches
-Allow child labor
-Weaken unions

The guy isn't worth anything near what he claims and it looks like his properties are so mortgaged that he can't use them to secure a greatly reduced bond, but he still has access to more money than I'll ever see at one time in my life.

The policy could cost all Waffle House workers ~$30M per year.

Biden wants to save Social Security by having the rich — who have become far richer over the past several decades — pay more Social Security taxes.

Just to reiterate, Trump wants to cut Social Security and Medicare — supposedly to address the debt — yet supports extending his tax cuts for the rich, adding $3.5 trillion to the deficit.

@rbreich Wasn't Clinton said to be willing to sign a bill into law privatizing Social Security right before he was impeached? We're not safe from either party doing the bidding of corporate interests. It's not enough to just "vote Blue no matter who." That will keep us exactly were we are right now until the Republicans finally get their way. We all also need to vote every year in the party primaries to replace corrupt do-nothing establishment Dems on the ballot so things actually get better.

@rbreich Thank you for specifying 32-hour work weeks. In manufacturing, a 4-day work week almost always means 10 or even 12 hour days. In a brutally hot and sweaty machine shop, it saps the energy out of you to the point you spend that one "extra" day off just recuperating from the work week. You've gained nothing, but the company profits off it.
