I don't think it tastes like that. which barbeque sauce? maybe the kind I'm thinking of is different

Dell said return to the office or else—nearly half of workers chose “or else” - Workers stayed remote even when told they could no longer be promoted. ( arstechnica.com )

Big tech companies are still trying to rally workers back into physical offices, and many workers are still not having it. Based on a recent report, computer-maker Dell has stumbled even more than most....

I was literally just about to look if this existed.

‘Will I ever retire?’: millennials wonder what’s on the other side of middle age ( www.theguardian.com )

Claire*, 42, was always told: “Follow your dreams and the money will follow.” So that’s what she did. At 24, she opened a retail store with a friend in downtown Ottawa, Canada. She’d managed to save enough from a part-time government job during university to start the business without taking out a loan....

Now try being a mid 30s millenial that couldn't even make it running a business

Grass ,

in the article someone with a successful business is worried about home affordability and retirement.
elsewhere someone with an unsuccessful business is worried about both of those things plus the business bleeding money. I'm referring to myself. I ended my so called business, quitting while I was behind because there is no getting ahead of the explotative big players without drowning in stress and never having time to relax or enkoy life.

Grass ,

I do that all the time too.

Grass ,

damn its quite good even without considering that derp spider-man doesn't play nathan.

their heads are all just slightly the wrong shape required for them to look trustworthy with the hairstyles they have.

maybe a regional thing. The second closest one to me has stuff about the same if not cheaper price but consistently better quality. The other two have more interesting and unusual things but more in line with your price expectations for a farmers market.

Grass ,

frost advisory? wtf

Grass ,

what app is that? I'm struggling to find the section from environment canada website

Grass ,

holy shit he's younger than me. I thought I looked like shit...
I guess I have more than just my regular sized facial features going for me.

Grass ,

I never would have guessed this based on what little I have heard of the franchise.

I learned japanese solely to play this game when they said it would never be localized. I also played the first 3 layton games in japanese as practice/warm up. then shortly after I finished the whole ordeal it came out in english. the localization was pretty iffy though

Grass ,

mine takes a whole minute. I just run it for the duration of the first log.

i feel like the supreme court should be removed in a similar way to how I used an olfa knife and large nail clippers to remove a foot wart when I found out getting it removed by a medical professional would mean 4+ hours of waititng room. looking at it now you can't even tell that my foot was knce bleeding profusely.

Grass ,

fuck just restart the whole country from scratch.

Grass ,

this alone would really make me want to buy one even though I really really shouldn't.

Grass ,

i haven't heard of any of those apart from breyers and breyers isn't very good on my region at least. feels whipped into frozen foam to fill the container with like a quarter of the product, the only one other than nestle that gives me a mouth full of air and a teaspoon of liquid every bite that melts. If I don't let it melt it feels like I swallowed air after what would be over indulging by volume but not weight.

I found I could do some fairly nauseating shit by removing the shroud so my peripheral is RL. like compound running, running in RL while also analog stick running in game. I think it was asgards wrath 2 I was dkinng that in to bypass the stamina restrictions. removing the shroud didnt help grandma though.

Grass ,

nice work. grid keyboards get bonus points from me

Grass OP ,

I guess that includes the hair that was on the floors literally everywhere

Grass OP ,

I wasn't planning on it. After I left I tossed my clothes in a bucket of brewery caustic. Some of the places were nasty and I don't know how anyone thought they were fit for viewing, let alone rental.

Grass OP ,

it was some rental middle man agency and she apologized claiming to have no idea what went wrong there. she said there was record of a cleaning crew showing up but no further details that would normally be on file. cleaning crew probably noped out of there, I know I would have.

Grass ,

but how do I fix it, explained in dum dum level english?

Grass ,

Im trying to solve this like some sort of logic puzzle

Grass ,

yeah I think I'll probably just die once my animals and my parents are gone.

Grass ,

I can cram into my ancient 80s civic hatch almost the same stuff my friend's dad can put in whatever model giant suv he has. my friend has a small pickup that can carry more. The bigger vehicle is not any more comfortable, smells like plastic and fake leather, and it's a mystery how that man makes the jump in and out of the vehicle with knees worse than mine because I have a hell of a hard time when I help them move stuff. Its also so damn high so getting heavy stuff in sucks big time. Not everyone wants a forklift to load their car.

I'm pretty sure there is a problem in canada with union reps being secretly bought by corporate execs. I'm pointing to at least bcgeu who some years ago investigated themselves then said there was no corruption. The government section involved also self investigated with the same result. None of it made the news and the employees are under oath to never talk to media or post on socials about any aspect of work. The union for the gas company kept telling the workers to accept the agreement because its the best they will get, clearly without effort, and the broke ass workers voted for a shit contract because they would see brief immediate gains which was the bait that worked. meanwhile the port workers toughed it out pretty damn long.

Grass ,

The colour ereader I just got is pretty cool. It draws much faster than anticipated and looks pretty good. The pen (mpp type) from my laptop works with it so I don't have to pay even more to scribble dicks in my books like its 2009. It's actually repairable unlike the previous ones too. I'm still bitter about the screen of my previous one getting permanent stripes down the left side and across the top and repair not being an option at all, not even by sending it out.

Grass ,

homemade? what flav?

Grass ,

oh its the kobo libra colour and libra 2.

Heres my unasked for review of sorts of both just for the hell of it...

The colour is probably about 1mm reduced in outer shell with the same screen dimensions but slightly different usb location so cases dont carry over perfectly. I'm still using the old case for the time being but being careful not let it pop out.

The libra 2 I've had since 2022 and pampered the damned thing but hilariously close to the release of the colour models the screen died. It would still be an excellent device that I'd be using otherwise. I have carried it in my jacket's tablet pocket with my tablet and kobo's screens facing each other, the kobo in the magnetic cover case and a piece of microfiber wrapped cardboard between them. somehow it must have gotten imperceptibility bent and ruined the screen recently between home and work. To the best of my knowledge there is no replacement part for the bw screen.

https://sh.itjust.works/pictrs/image/5b580139-6d84-4e6e-954b-a3cfc0c9cece.jpeg

The Libra 2 screen has fewer layers compared to the colour so white is whiter, imagine stacking screen protectors until it starts to darken or making a mirror tunnel and comparing how it gets darker the deeper in it goes. The colours arent super vibrant but it's still pretty cool and more mind boggling how it doesn't drain more power once drawn even compared to the previous gen panels. Picture is no backlight night mode in a dim room.

I'm a little bitter and wouldn't recommend the libra 2 in hindsight but it's not available any more. The colour has the disadvantage of case incompatibility and darker white but with the black shell it's not very noticeable because of the contrast. The latest models, kobo libra colour and clara colour/bw, have repair parts available through ifixit (except for clara bw screen it seems) for actually pretty reasonable prices. Kobo itself has seemingly no tech support for the english speaking world and their own site as well as their twitter seem to be bots that give you the runaround on every topic. They released the linux kernel sources for older models but not for the new devices and not for some previous models and revisions so other linux distro projects like quill os are potentially hindered.

Grass ,

Nice I'll check it out too

Grass ,

except there absolutely is. I live in what used to be a literal forest with a road through it and now its smog and tire dust the moment yoy open a door or window.

Grass ,

I left a lot out but I think overall it still counts. this formerly middle of nowhere town grew too big due to high end highrise projects and everyone wanted to live in lovely little forest tower with a view but making the car and bike infrastructure able to support the additional homes isn't profitable so getting in and out is bottlenecked massively, local businesses have been replaced by more housing projects so you have to go farther to get food and stuff.

so basically once upon a time nothing was here and you had to drive out far to get anything. then the town picked up over several decades and you didnt have to go anywhere because everything was there. then they got rid of everything and brought in more people so you have to drive again but now in traffic, all to line the pockets of mainly two companies' execs.

Grass ,

what about physical damage. or emp or something. I feel like that will be a problem well before 200 years.

Grass ,

I guess android virtualization wasn't very developed back then

What do you think of the term "short king" as a term that's supposed to champion body positivity for men?

Body positivity is such a strange concept to me. There's efforts to reclaim words while simultaneously calling them bad if used as an insult. Ideally, people wouldn't be offended by someone describing their body with common descriptors, but socially there is so much value attributed to certain body types that it's almost...

Grass ,

I wouldn't want to be called by any term partly comprised of 'king'. Just call me short.

Also I keep wanting to read it as shortening and start baking.

Grass ,

I mean the government could open up facilities for cooking meals or processing food for cold storage that would otherwise be thrown out, and regulate both farming and grocery stores so that anything that would get wasted instead goes to feed homeless people or something. Its a massive yeah right though. All industrial farming has done on this side of this rock is pump us full of ready roundup and microplastics, crush small independent grocers, drive up water and other resource consumption, and people are still going hungry regularly. Corporate america will never let people be happy and healthy without wealth divisions on this continent, and likely as much of the others as can be influenced.

Grass ,

I'm telling myself whatever is in the bowl is cat food and the tray is also cat food that kinda looks like chocolates. I don't think I could handle a world where that is not the case.

Grass ,

I dunno the Bible passages I have read made me think god was a bit of a bipolar asshole and any entity higher than a human that went against god for the sake of humans would be punished too.

that said I also didnt get the impression any of these types of people would make the cut either.
