Why do you have to wait a week to use the bootloader?

Its a software limitation, you can't unlock the bootloader immediately. After a week you probably have stuff on the device so you might not want to unlock it anymore

Or it might be a security thing so retailers can't unlock stuff they sell so easily and put their own software on it

Yeah I had to go nolife for a while with Cyberpunk, got more than 100 hours in that game, definitely a commitment, although the main story is pretty short if you just want to do that

There's a Dutch tech website called tweakers.net, a while ago they removed all tracking cookies and all ads are now just banners based on the current web page. I have adblocker disabled for that website and I'm happy with that

This is why I love the Gnome desktop, while some decision are definitely controversial, they really put the user experience first. All libadwaita apps have the same basic styling and layout, so it's always clear what you can and can not do. Libadwaita apps are just a joy to use, although some are a bit too basic for my liking

Plenty of people will fall for that, my mother rarely uses her laptop, so I installed Firefox for her. She got a notification telling her to switch to Edge, so she did. At least she told me so I could switch it back

If you use a usb 3.2 gen 2 port, your max speed will be 1250 MB/s, pretty much every nvme ssd will be able to max that. Fast USB sticks will undoubtedly be very close, but might not have the same sustained write speeds compared to an SSD (With Dram cache).

If you're just going to use it for recovery ISOs or installations it's probably not going to matter much, I regularly use USB 2.0 usb sticks for that purpose just fine.

It's up to you though, I had an nvme ssd laying around and bought an enclosure for it, I get about 1000 MB/s read and write with it.

So if you have an ssd laying around I think that would be a good option, but a usb stick will be fine as well and would be a little bit more compact, if that matters to you

do you know that minecraft mod that autosorts your inventory? is there are project that can autosort a messy file system and put all of your files of a similar nature into a well organised, well named order. obviously this would require ai that could do image, language, and audio recognition but is there anything in the works? i...

Gentle reminder to everyone that support for ends in about 90 weeks. Many computers can't upgrade to Win 11 so here are your options:

  1. Continue on Win 10 but with higher security risks.
  2. Buy new and expensive hardware that supports Win11.
  3. Try a beginner friendly distro like . It only takes about two months to acclimate.

3D printing really isn't expensive, especially since you can create a lot of stuff for cents. I'm considering a new extruder for my Ender 3 (Looking at the LDO orbiter v2) and that's €70, which sounds expensive for the printer, but compared to any other hobby that's peanuts
