@Blisterexe@lemmy.zip avatar

Do you not degoogle your android?

Blisterexe ,
@Blisterexe@lemmy.zip avatar

Openstreetmaps data is very good, and several degoogled custom roms support android auto (/e/os comes to mind) and the paid version of osmand has android auto support, the free version of the (inferior)agic earth does too

@Blisterexe@lemmy.zip avatar

It was popularised recently (in the past 100 years) because of superhero comic authors not wanting to be bound by preexisting canon

Blisterexe ,
@Blisterexe@lemmy.zip avatar

In response to the lemmy.ml moderation polemic: beware of bad faith agents!

One of the biggest topics of these days is that of mods in lemmy.ml banning and censoring people because they're Tankies. This has had a rather sizeable discussion of people agreeing and even arguing for defederating ml. I'm sure a lot of people are arguing from good intentions, but there's also bad faith actors among them, as I...

Last Christmas Eve, NewsBreak, a free app with roots in China that is the most downloaded news app in the United States, published an alarming piece about a small town shooting. It was headlined "Christmas Day Tragedy Strikes Bridgeton, New Jersey Amid Rising Gun Violence in Small Towns."...

Its for blind people, it let's them know what is in images using a screen reader, just because it doesn't apply to you doesn't mean it's useless

The basic of immutable desktops is that every system file (what's outside your home directory (folder) ) is readonly, you can install apps through the app store.

But I'd say Linux mint (a Non-immutable) distro is what you should try first, because it's more user-friendly and easier to get help for.

Blisterexe ,
@Blisterexe@lemmy.zip avatar

You can edit system files with layering, but it's not as straightforward

Blisterexe OP ,
@Blisterexe@lemmy.zip avatar

With Firefox and unlock origin it'll remove all the cruft from websites, and you can degoogle your phone, making it more private than it was in 2014 (unless you install apps that don't respect your privacy)

@Blisterexe@lemmy.zip avatar

There is Microsoft's suite available on mobile, and there is also onlyoffice, which is FOSS

This looks fine, the browser just puts your search into a category like "health" or "tech", then sends the amount of each category completely anonymously.

Also, if you've opted out of data collection already that setting applies to this too.

Blisterexe ,
@Blisterexe@lemmy.zip avatar

If they refused to say it how do you know its the case? Also how would the data described in the article be useful to an ai, genuine question.

Blisterexe ,
@Blisterexe@lemmy.zip avatar

not a fan of brave as a company, but their ai search does that.

Blisterexe ,
@Blisterexe@lemmy.zip avatar

With discord planning to show ads, how can the fediverse/lemmy benefit from another proprietary program making itself worse? (Like it was with reddit)

Do you think that the fediverse has something to gain with the enshitfication of discord? Are there voice chat programs in the fediverse that can benefit from it?

Blisterexe ,
@Blisterexe@lemmy.zip avatar

Trying to pirate a physical book. Where do I get thinner printer paper?

I need to pirate this book thats over 1000 pages. I already have the pdf but I really want a physical copy and the book costs too much for me. Even if I have to buy a bunch of ink (the book has no pictures) and even if I wear out the printhead before the job is done, it's still going to be cheaper to do this. My printer has been...
