To be fair morale could not have been that high in one of the worst modern wars in world history...least he didn't destroy it.

AnonTwo ,

So...did they investigate uvalde yet or no?

Trolls are spamming CP on AskLemmy@Lemmy.world

I don't know if you need this info, but I was pretty disturbed to see unexpected child pornography on a casual community. Thankfully it didn't take place on SLRPNK.net directly, but if anyone has any advice besides leaving the community in question, let me know. And I wanted to sound an alarm to make sure we have measures in...

AnonTwo ,

If the same trolls got 10 accounts, they could find some other way to exploit the security gap, and also delete any posts warning about it.

Maybe it would help if communities could turn off image uploading? I mean asklemmy doesn't hardly ever has a reason for there to be a picture. Communities that need it of course would still need other security measures.

AnonTwo ,

Are these cases required to go to a state court before they're presented federally?

While it's good to know, It feels like it's not relevant whether an individual state's courts argue it, since foreign policy has to be handled on a federal level.

edit: I'm actually confused. It's a federal court in California? what sway does it have typically?

AnonTwo ,

And true to life, once sickness envelops her, HR will kick her to the curb.

AnonTwo ,

I mean, I remember it being weeks myself.

But it's not as if things went back to the way they were either. There were definitely effects due to those weeks.

AnonTwo ,

It's probably because I generally saw the sub shutdowns as a result of the protest, and not as an ongoing protest. Reddit clearly wasn't in any talks with the mods at that point and vica versa.

Honestly i'll just go with it being months. I'm basically just arguing semantics at this point.

AnonTwo ,

Should've gotten Cotton Hill. He'd be an asshole but at least he'd get the nationality right.

AnonTwo ,

Pretty sure they're trying to make "we need more control over the internet" into a national security issue, similar to during the cold war. So basically tie him in with a party people in the US really dislike.

AnonTwo , (edited )

I feel like every time someone says this, a federal employee should be allowed to audit the schools that person went to on how the fuck they messed up so badly teaching this failure.

AnonTwo ,

Pretty sure Cali wants nothing to do with Texas

AnonTwo ,

A lot of medicines have side effect. And a lot of side effects. But you still take them because The thing you're taking them for fucking sucks

There's being careful and there's forgetting the whole point of it all: to not get a life-debilitating sickness. Which a lot of vaccines eliminate.

AnonTwo ,

So you've never been truly sick is all that means. Just means you'll die when you have a truly dangerous sickness and don't take any precautions for it.

AnonTwo ,

Pretty sure most people think of Covid, the thing a lot of people did die to, or Polio, the returning sickness that we literally had a president who couldn't walk because of.

AnonTwo ,

So the judge is in with trump. Hope none of his cases go that guys way.

Like yeah, he broke the law and needed to be punished. But it wasn't government secrets, which i'm pretty sure is already legally coded separately from this guys crimes, and also neither of which are treason, which would be the capital attack.

So the guy blatantly spoke against his own legal experience for a political swing.

AnonTwo ,

He really shouldn't. What the guy did was still legally wrong, and he probably knew it and weighed he would rather take jail time and commit it. A less scrupulous person could do worse things, which is why those laws are in place.

If he could somehow reduce the sentence that would be great, and if that is on the table he should, but some punishment should still occur.

He's a vigilante hero for what he did, but vigilantes are still criminals. The main issue here is that the punishment is clearly wrong, and the message is wrong, as the judge seems to think this is paramount to treason, which it isn't.

AnonTwo ,

should've just admitted to chatgpt. That paragraph makes you look old and disconnected. You made a lot of assumptions about people you don't know, and clearly don't know the current age you're in. It's not entitlement or some need for instant gratification. People are actually getting less than they got when you started working.

AnonTwo ,

It would look less embarrassing if you didn't actually write it, that's how bad it is.

AnonTwo ,

I mean, I already did. You just didn't respond, Mr. Intelligence.

AnonTwo ,

So really you're only playing moderator because you're for it, and don't want people to vote against it.

AnonTwo ,

Basically we encompass everything as black/white socialism/capitalism

When pretty much every country (including the United States currently ) implements both.

And the problem is by demonizing socialism as the main economic structure, politicians basically succeeded in shaming people for any socialist policy they disagree with.

AnonTwo ,

I mean,

If it stops the war let him do it for the wrong reasons.

I don't think this will actually stop it, but i'm just saying.

AnonTwo ,

I still use redirects to visit Reddit (I don't bother if they don't work), mainly because one of the main communities I track didn't really move here.
Does Youtube count? That's pretty much the only other thing I could think of.

AnonTwo ,

I'm not

I can't even try using an alternative redirect because apparently all of them are blocked.

AnonTwo ,

Meanwhile someone will be eating gummies to cure themselves of some modern disease instead of using actual science-proven medication.

AnonTwo ,

I mean, you can grandstand all you want while you have no platforms to safely do it on. Pretty sure having working products for privacy is more important to activism than one guy being an asshole.

AnonTwo ,

Wait why are you on the privacy community when you don't care about the parts that are specifically related to privacy?

AnonTwo ,

I mean it's derailed the entire thread so pretty much nobody is talking about the removed feature anymore.

AnonTwo ,

I'm...honestly surprised you can be on lemmy when you damn products over singular people. Just cause I know there's people who have tried to dissuade others from lemmy over the developers. And in that case the people involved are even closer to the code than a CEO would be.

AnonTwo ,

I mean, it's more like I wanted to see more discussion about brave. It's not even like it's talking about things the CEO specifically did to the browser, it's just talking about the CEO.

And yeah I'm complaining about different threads in a post, when 3 comments are about the browser and like 15 are about the CEO.

If you have something to say negative about brave from this feature, that's cool, but I'm not seeing it.

AnonTwo ,

Okay

But in this entire discussion we haven't even tied him or his homophobia to the feature change this article is discussing.

AnonTwo ,

I mean yeah, but Spez we know for a fact actually did something.

AnonTwo ,

Uhhh...that's not a meme, as the other guy said it's virtue signalling. I don't even know why you would fallback on it being a meme since people generally agreed with what you said.

If anything I think that makes you sound like an ass but that's just me.

AnonTwo ,

Was strict the default? I'd assume the standard would be the default.

I'd imagine if you were using strict you want the sites to break because you absolutely do not want fingerprinting. That kindof restriction usually comes with the breaking being expected.

AnonTwo ,

So what happens if they just can't find anyone willing to say the fine is okay?

AnonTwo ,

Gnome's current state is too far from the UI interface for people who only know windows. Maybe if it was Gnome2.

AnonTwo ,

The first time I gave up was basically just too much back and forth with Windows. Wine was still not there yet and Proton wasn't even a thing yet though.

I've used it a lot on laptops still, but haven't gone to a desktop mainly because friends still like to bounce between games that I have to worry if my system will even support (for anti-cheat reasons not for normal compatibility reasons)

Currently using on steam deck and it's great, am planning for next PC because it feels like too much work to do on a current one when everything is already working the way I want it to.

AnonTwo ,

So basically they're protecting you from something that's only possible, because of something they shouldn't have done.

AnonTwo ,

I feel old, because I don't feel like 62 is young

AnonTwo ,

I mean, I've thought it was obvious from the beginning he wants to be president so he can pardon himself. Like that has always been the end goal.

AnonTwo ,

I feel like there aren't enough heads turned on investors who could care about employees even less than companies do.

They even have more bargaining power than any employee or protester to make the company do what they want.

AnonTwo ,

I mean if he catches wind their products stop working to the point consumers react, he can just sell his stock and move on to destroy another company.

AnonTwo ,

I think Americans in general don't see it as a difficult choice to support Ukraine

Politicians find it difficult because Republicans are pro-russian, and both parties are heavily aligned with Israel. So Ukraines the only one really seeing any push back.

AnonTwo ,

You're literally just ignoring the people who tell you he's been charged with a crime. You posted a similar message in another thread yesterday, and just like this one you're just posting and leaving.

AnonTwo ,

Literally violated some of the biggest laws in the country. So blatantly that literally everyone saw it.

"For nothing"

AnonTwo ,

Think of it this way

By the next election one choice isn't eligible anymore, and the second will likely be so buried under court cases he won't be able to.

So it's more of a "finish what was started" and hopefully by the next election we'll finally have some new people to worry about.

AnonTwo ,

If this is what you have to say in N.C. to get elected, I'm really worried about N.C.

AnonTwo ,

...Yes, cause that means the base he is working with to get elected is one he thinks wants to hear this.
