Kinda happy how at the start of the season !bicycle_touring got a bit of traffic. But i'm not all that hopeful really because the regular bicycling subs with way more subscribers have also very little traffic. I sometimes wonder if all that even makes sense here if it isn't about computers, memes or politics.

The camping, ultralight, outdoor communities are pretty much just dead.

Camping i think theoretically has some actual users, the solarpunkers seem to mostly repost stuff, not do or plan to do something. I don't think consolidation will do much.

To be completely honest, i am a bit turned off how slrpnk's take on niche communities appears to be. They seem to care not much about the topic, but how and where communities are hosted. They don't link to the bicycle touring community because it's on .world, not to camping because it's on sh.itjust.works etc, as these instances (and many others) are "not part of the free world" and opressors. This is not how you grow the fediverse, i believe.

Love summer. Love all the seasons, but would be nice if summer was one, two months longer and winter shorter.

What are some good Winter Hardened and Aromatic Plants to put outside my Bedroom window?

I got quite a large Bedroom Window that I like to keep open during the Night and I thought it would lend itself super nicely for some Strong and Nicely smelling aromatic plants just outside it, so that by proxy the room itself always has that lovely plant flavour....

Bought one about two weeks ago. Usually i like having a paper map on my cycling trips, but on long ones it's getting too many maps, so i didn't bring any. Then i met some italians with a map and next day i bought one myself. I think it's much better to see where you are at and how you move than on a phone.

Also kinda like the "scenic routes" marker in the michelin maps (although that's also on their online maps). It was a midi pyrenees map, but i have already ridden out of it, going to send it home.

The clouds looked a bit scary as i went up but it was fine. Just heavy wind gusts sometimes. I was cycling along this long dirtroad that kept me above 2000m there for about 20km, was amazing. Picture is taken at Creu d'Eixol, from where that long stretch started. Downhill was a banger too though :)

This is a very recent development, i don't know what's going on, haha. I guess it's just campsite cats being used to walk into tents, but i have been camping a lot and never had this happen before.

This is not how it goes usually. I have been on a lot of campsites, and never has anything like that happened before. Both those cats i think were very interested in getting onto people. The first one, as i left, jumped onto me when i wanted to pet her for good byes, then went onto my back, haha. Another guest helped me remove it, as she was clawing into my windbreaker jacket.

The second cat like i said had already jumped onto me as i was sitting there.

In the tent they were both mostly on top of me, the first one later got off as she stayed much longer.

I think there is a very good chance at both those mentioned campsites that this could happen. I assume on the second it will almost be guaranteed, haha.

Aw shit you got me, i am setting this all up in my garden with my own cats, haha.

For real, i have not been picking them up outside and dragged them in, they both just walked in. To the first one i think i made a "tsk tsk tsk" sound like i do to all cats. The second one was just suddenly there i was playing wordle, drinking coffee, procrastinating to get up.

Because almost all niche topic communities that i am interested in have very few people posting. The niche topics were also what made reddit interesting to me, i hardly ever browsed all there.

Hell yeah, birds. When you get to know the songs of birds it opens up a deeper way of hearing too. And you get a lot better at spotting them. Birds are amazing.

I like travelling by bike, but i am not the biggest fan of doing roundtrips, i much prefer moving further and further away. So on longer trips i will end up way far from home, and since travelling by train across Europe, can be a real ordeal (especially with a bike), i sometimes take a plane back home. Alright that sounds cool and there is something to it, showing presence in the trains with a bike, although when it's the season they're all booked out here. This usually doesn't work when i don't 100% know when i finish (and where) way in advance (unless i do the whole dismantling / packing deal).

You say it's a plan, so you have not started doing this and took your last plane like yesterday, right :)
