Aaah, so the plan is to run sublinks on, say, sublinks.world and keep lemmy.world running with lemmy? Like you do with the mastodon alternatives?

(WEEKLY / CMV) I should close this community ( lemmy.ca )

I just learned about this community from the piefed issue tracker. Glad that i found it! Looking forward to hopefully take part when i have something to say. I feel like this community here is especially hard to find, just because it is so broad and not a niche interest that is easy to search for with an obvious keyword. I was also wondering if communities being home to instances with a localized TLD may have it harder to grow because people just assume it's a f.e. canada centric discussion. I may remember this wrong, but i think last summer the !bicycles community was the largest and most active cycling community (it was very small though), but somehow !bicycling has now more than three times the subscribers (looking at lemmy.world numbers), even though i'd say that !bicycles is still the most active english language cycling sub (strangely the german speaking !fahrrad community seems to be the most active of all of the cycling communities that i know of).

I thought quite a few times that i need to leave lemmy, i felt like all the negativity i was exposed to had a bad effect on my mental health. I was also thinking that i didn't want to be associated with all these super angry people. I blocked a lot of meme, politics and news communities but it still seeps through. Still i have some hope that this can take off more, i generally like lemmy.

I had high hopes for the "scaled" sort, to find some interesting communities, but i ended up not using it at all. Maybe i should give it another try. On lemmy.world they have this "community spotlight", where they promote a smaller community on top of the homepage. I think that is a pretty cool idea, although i feel it would be nice if they changed it more often, or cycle through a group of communities for a month randomly, then on to another group.

All in all i think this community here has great potential! I will have a look if i can propose this community for the lemmy.world community spotlight if you don't mind.

*edit: i have now suggested it for the lw community spotlight, i hope that's ok.

Israel quietly rolled out a mass facial recognition program in the Gaza Strip ( www.theverge.com )

Israel has deployed a mass facial recognition program in the Gaza Strip, creating a database of Palestinians without their knowledge or consent, The New York Times reports. The program, which was created after the October 7th attacks, uses technology from Google Photos as well as a custom tool built by the Tel Aviv-based company...

AchtungDrempels ,

If they want genocide, what do they need the face recognition for?

AchtungDrempels ,

For me the best thing about reddit was the niche subs. I was there only for niche content, on lemmy there's hardly anything happening yet, so i end up either looking at memes, which don't really interest me (i blocked most politics talk), or look at nothing at all.

AchtungDrempels ,

Yeah it's a mess, there are some proper pigs out there. The comic still feels a bit like somebody hears about child abduction on the media and the punch line is that it's somehow insensitive to suggest to let the kids go to school on their own.

I wouldn't be surprised if more men are victims of this too than one would think, or i got incredibly "lucky". I remember when i was a kid, skateboarding in the city, i would go to the toilet of the main train station if i needed to. There were almost always men masturbating and looking over to me, but i didn't understand back then, although i found it very uncomfortable, the smell of that toilet may have done its part though, haha.

When i was older, going home from the club i used to pass the are of the same train station and it must have been a place for male prostitution at night, i had almost every weekend cars stalking me, randos asking if i wanted to jerk them off or some shit. I didn't feel scared though, which seems a bit weird in hindsight, but i never change my route home.

Later i also got randomly jumped and beat up, out of the blue, in the middle of the night by two guys. That one was actually traumatic and it took me half a year to not think about it anymore.

AchtungDrempels ,

It is pinned, in the community where i would expect to find this kind of information.

AchtungDrempels ,

What are the design features of lemmy.world that make it stand out here?

The instance beef is annoying to me, but i'm not here for the politics talk, maybe that's why i don't get it. I see pleasant and unpleasant users coming from all kinds of instances.

AchtungDrempels ,

I think you are confused, but that obviously doesn't keep you from throwing out wild accusations. How is what you linked Nutomic's page? Because it's lemmy.ml? I really feel for Dessalines and Nutomic with all the shit they have to deal with.

AchtungDrempels ,

That your lies get any upvotes is quite sad, i thought people on lemmy were tech savvy. I'm not and even i can see that you're making this stuff up.

AchtungDrempels ,

Where is the proof please? As far as i can see, the lemmy.world modlog is the outlier, not the lemmy.ml one.

AchtungDrempels ,

Sorry but i cannot find anything. If the proof for Draconic's claims is so obvious and plenty, please be so kind and link at least one bit to me. The only thing i could find that seems like some kind of "proof" is the screenshot @Draconic_NEO posted. How they got to take it i have no idea, not saying they drew it in paint, but here is what it looks like on my side (same mod actions):

AchtungDrempels ,

Sorry can't find it.

BTW "Sunaurus page" looks equally suspicious to Nutomic's. Actually the whole lemm.ee modlog is suspicious, right? You think they are also in on it?

AchtungDrempels ,

Oh, that's a nice word i just learned.

Yeah, i don't really understand what's going on here.

AchtungDrempels ,

Have you seen any other lemmy instance besides lemmy.world who has this field? I haven't (I checked feddit.uk, feddit.nl, feddit.de, lemm.ee, lemmy.sdf.org, lemmy.ca, lemmy.blahaj.zone). Are they all up to some shady stuff and lemmy.world is the only instance with an honest modlog?

Also i would like to know your thoughts on "Sunaurus' page", you somehow must have missed when i first asked you about it. Is he also manipulating the modlog data itself? What about "Ada's page"? I am sure i would find the same for admins of the other instances, but i feel like it would be on you to show something that supports your claims.

AchtungDrempels ,

How did you create this screenshot? This is not what the modlog at lemmy.sdf.org looks like, it looks like this:

https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/4b33d089-5e43-4c1b-8be6-55ddec628b2c.png

AchtungDrempels ,

And would you be so kind and tell with me which one, so i can see for myself what you seem to be seeing there?

AchtungDrempels ,

Yeah. Now i learned more about it than i wanted to. Somehow i still feel dumber after trying to talk to @Draconic_NEO and the troll entourage.

AchtungDrempels ,

Thank you for all your work and congratulations to Nutomic! Best wishes!

AchtungDrempels ,

avoid lemmy.world, apparently the mods there abuse their power

Would you mind to explain this in a bit more detail?

AchtungDrempels ,

Are you guys talking about moderators moderating comms on world, moderators who have a world account and moderate a comm somewhere, or world admins? I assume the latter, because that would make a bit more sense.

Are there any specific outrageous examples or did @eatham just read it somewhere like i have now?

AchtungDrempels ,

Ha, that is amazing. Great find for the Osprey too!

AchtungDrempels ,

I also just started with them, wild strawberries though. Are you trying regular strawberries?

AchtungDrempels ,

Lemmy.world is a right wing instance? Is that what you are saying?

AchtungDrempels OP ,

Haha! Actually it is German tourists behaving badly in France. Trying my best to keep Germans in a top spot of worst tourists.

AchtungDrempels OP ,

Oh thanks for the hint to that comm, didn't know about this.
